OOC:
I think after deciding to carry people out, Marabi would have put her shield down somewhere. Her AC will be 12.
Marabi was looking around the floor trying to work out the most injured person to drag out and fails to notice the imminent danger.

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+2)

(3) + 2 = 5

May 7, 2021 12:54 pm
With the dogs taken care of, Grant is behind Rolen in fast pursuit as well. Good job Rolen I wouldn't have thought of that.

OOC:
Adam, you've observed the narrative very faithfully/thoughtfully/realistically and caused Marabi more than one problem by now in doing so (leaving her chainmail behind completely, not hearing the pipe-player, now doffing her shield). Have Inspiration!

And Enise is first in the out-building conflict Initiative, but I saw LoM post in the Absence thread. They had previously posted that Enise had most definitely noticed the aggressors, so perhaps I will auto-pilot Enise for this turn. And have her use her Action to Help Marabi, drawing her attention to the attackers and giving her Advantage on whatever her Action is on her turn.
Enise has just enough time to tug on Marabi's sleeve, virtually dragging her off of the prostrate woman, and brandishing her own staff like she would a prod to her sheep, controlling the aggressors' movements some.

It's not enough however to keep the zombie-like revelers at bay, and the four split off into pairs two setting upon each of the pair.
OOC:
Alright, so all of the Dancers are Exhausted enough that they have Disadvantage on attacks, but they're attacking in pairs, and one is Helping the other. So the Ad+Dis cancel our for one normal attack from each pair.

I'm rolling damage with the attack. Only apply the damage if course if it hits.

Rolls

Melee, unarmed attack - Marabi - (1d20+2, 1d3)

1d20+2 : (15) + 2 = 17

1d3 : (2) = 2

Melee, unarmed attack - Enise - (1d20+2, 1d3)

1d20+2 : (7) + 2 = 9

1d3 : (2) = 2

Grant and Rolen run ahead and shortly come upon an odd scene.

Marié is just outside of the winery villa courtyard to the south, and she is entangled in what appears to be ... a very out of place, overgrown rose garden, perhaps? Her clothes and limbs are ensnared and intertwined with brambled stems and vines. And on the far side of the growth is a half-elven lass in a pretty sundress swatting at the brambles futilely with a stick.

The growth blocks the entirety of the exit from the courtyard, so you would have to pass through it unless you seek some way around.

The girl startles and staggers back with a shriek, as Grant and Rolen rush into view, and Grant has both axe and sword in his hands.
May 7, 2021 3:15 pm
What the heck? What's happening here? Rolen calls out.
He looks at Grant who seems to be very well suited to deal with the plants but he also want to help by himself.
Rolen can generated small blasts of fire. He targets the roots of the plants and fires some fire bolts at them, hoping to clear a path through the roses.
May 7, 2021 3:18 pm
Son of a gelding! What was that for?! The blow rattles Marabi.

"THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY. RUN. I WILL FOLLOW"

She also flicks her thumb towards the exit in case Enise can't hear her. Marabi only has to buy a few seconds and take the heat off Enise's escape. With luck, Marabi will be able to grab her shield and a candlestick or some other improvised club on her exit. Then they can go back in with more of a plan.

In the meantime, let's buy Enise those seconds...

Marabi shuffles her shoulders and throws a straight jab.
OOC:
If 14 hits, it's an unarmed strike. A flat 1+3=4 points of bludgeoning damage.

The point is really to give time for Enise to disengage and move, before Marabi does the same.

Rolls

Jab (with help from Enise setting them up) - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (9) + 5 = 14

1d20+5 : (3) + 5 = 8

May 7, 2021 4:05 pm
OOC:
That hits and that's enough for Marabi to take one out (they are VERY Exhausted). With your felling blow you can choose to kill him or knock him out, of course. I'm assuming Marabi just wants to knock him out? And it sounded like this was one of Enise's attackers?

Marabi will use her action to attack, of course, but to collect her shield, I think that would be her move, alone. So if she wants to get her shield before fleeing, she'll have to stick around for another round before being able to skin-out...
Marabi starches one of the sloppy aggressors, and he goes down in a heap.

Enise takes off at Marabi's urging, and her lone remaining attacker follows her only briefly before ceasing the pursuit. His movement is too slow, and he just kind of stares off after her.

Marabi's aggressors come at her if she sticks around to collect her shield, but otherwise are easily left in the dust if she just flees.
OOC:
I'll roll they're attack, behind the screen, and just let me know with your next post what Marabi wants to do, collect her shield and get attacked again, or just move out.
...

Rolen starts burning away the overgrown vines and branches, but they seem to replace themselves as quickly as he can burn them!

The lass, meanwhile, still on the ground, scoots herself further away from the three, tarnishing the backside of her dress before finally standing and running most of the way toward the out-building.

Rolls

Melee, unarmed attack - (1d20+2, 1d3)

May 7, 2021 4:08 pm
OOC:
Yes - knock out. My thinking was (mainly on the initiative order):

That round: Attack.
Next round: Enise has time to disengage and move. Marabi gets attacked :/ Marabi disengages and moves out.
May 7, 2021 4:10 pm
OOC:
Gotcha, here's the attack:

OOC:
So Marabi takes another point of damage.

Once away from the chaos of the out-building, Marabi and Enise see the scene with entangled-Marié and the others up by the winery villa.
May 7, 2021 4:21 pm
Marabi leans into the attack to take the sting out of it, before using her proximity and mass to push them back and make space for her retreat.
OOC:
...narrative only. Mechanically, a disengage not a shove
She throws a wistful eye at her shield leaning against the wall as she escapes the room.

She moves away from the influence of the music with Enise and removes her clay earplugs.

They are crazy. I think the music is making them crazy. I will find something I can use as a club, and... Hey! What is Marie up to?

Marabi wanders over to collect her sword for some freestyling gardening.
May 7, 2021 5:02 pm
As Marabi, and perhaps others even, join in on slicing at the ensnaring vines, everyone finds that they can't seem to make any progress in eliminating the stuff. It just seems to magically grow back as quickly as it is cut back.

However, before long the thorned branches and vines just seem to retract on their own and are gone.

The music that had been eminating from the out-building has noticably ceased, and for the moment things are quiet.

Perhaps unsettlingly so.
May 7, 2021 5:39 pm
Hey Marabi. I'm a bit tied up. And not in the fun kind. Careful that you don't get grabbed as well.
OOC:
I have no clue where we are in the initiative, but Marié will try and get out of the entanglement

That is the first time I have roll'ed a zero :D

Rolls

Strength check (advantage if claws can help cut her free) - (1d20-1, 1d20-1)

1d20-1 : (13) - 1 = 12

1d20-1 : (1) - 1 = 0

May 7, 2021 5:54 pm
OOC:
We're out of initiative/structured combat and the vines have receded on their own.
May 7, 2021 5:57 pm
OOC:
I think Marie is out now.
I know I'm over-posting, so I'll just bring everyone up to speed on the outbuilding then back off.
Marabi chucklesnorts and waggles her eyebrows at Marie.

"What was that elf bard's name? Tawny?"

She decides not to push Marie's saucy stories, lest they embarrass Grant.

"The people in the outbuilding are crazy. They are dancing themselves to death.

Clay in the ears is good to stop the music. I think the music might be magic."

It had all happened so fast, but now she was outside, Marabi was able to start processing what she had seen.

"There was an elf with pipes. He might be making the magic music. He must have been able to see that the music was bad.

So I think he is a bad elf.

I think I should beat him up so we can ask him some questions and stop the people dancing.

But I feel a bit funny about walking into a wedding party with a sword - even if I will only use the flat side.

Have any of you read anything about bad musical elves?"

Marabi has a simple way of talking, a grammatical habit picked up from her bilingual household. She knows it makes her sound a bit dim, and it's true she's never been one for study, but that doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate the value of books - it's just that she hopes somebody else reads them.
May 7, 2021 6:18 pm
Marié flips her ears down. I don't do clay-in-ears! But I might have an alternative She picks out a small cube a few centimeters / an inch on its sides, and she works it a bit with a crystal-tipped tool. I'll give you The fart'ster, turned to 11!. She presses the cube and a loud continuous farting sound can be heard. She presses it again and it blissfully stops. She puts it under her baret.
Ready for action

Now where is this bad musician?

This is so imature, but that is Marié

OOC:
You're good Adam, I was pushing things a bit to try to get the group together, temporally at least, and that's happened. And I was able to spank you guys lightly for splitting the group ;D, and now the gang is back together, physically, too. So now it's time to formulate a plan. The group has a good "lay of the land" with Marabi's account, and now things can get really interesting :P
So as the conversation ebbs and flows, you all notice that the music has stopped. Indeed it's dead silent, except for your talking.

Perhaps after Marié inquires after the "bad musician" everyone looks over to the out-building, and you all see that every able body in the out-building is staring out the windows at you all. Completely still and silent.

The elf has come to one of the windows, and the half-elven lass stands just outside that window to the side, and both of them are staring at you all as silently as the rest of the wedding crowd.
May 7, 2021 10:13 pm
Errrm.. I've heard about making fun about a wedding being the worst decision to make but this here seems to be a bit exaggerated. Rolen says while the wedding crowd stares silently at them.
But magic music you say, Marabi? I think I can have a look into that
Rolen waves his hands into the air and speaks an incantation. His vision changes and he can see where the fabric of magic flows
OOC:
Rolen casts "Detect Magic"

In the meanwhile Grant has dropped the sword and move to wipe out attack plant with his oversized axe. This is unreal situation.

Rolls

axe attack, damage - (1d20+5, 1d12+3)

1d20+5 : (6) + 5 = 11

1d12+3 : (1) + 3 = 4

May 8, 2021 10:16 pm
Marabi throws the air a jab-jab-cross to loosen her shoulders as she walks over to collect her sword. Before picking it up she digs her fingers into the claggiest clay she can find and rolls two sausagey earplugs to stuff in her ears.

She'd feel happier with her shield, but she'll get it soon enough. She strides back with her longsword resting on her right shoulder-with her left hand she points at the elf then beckons him with her finger.

OI! ELF BARD! I WANT TO HAVE A WORD WITH YOU.

When he fails to come out, Marabi sighs and strides towards the door again. She assumes Grant is backing her up, and so doesn't bother looking back.
