I was thinking of playing a gunslinger. Does that work in your world?

I general a replacement for Gunslingers are wandslingers, that doesn't mean it's impossible to make guns just nobody else has done it.
And some results of that would be people being afraid of your gun, It might even get outlawed at some point.
- Basically to play a gunslinger you would also be the inventor of the gun.

Yes the game can still have more players, Approved! If you're interested in playing a dwarf that would be great as we have yet to have an actual dwarf, (Duergar not Included).
