The creature rushes at Slim bashing into him, Jelar moves away from the beast while Slim opts to try and hinder it's movement once he gets his senses about him and sees more rock shatter off but unphasing the beast and gives a game plan to an already escaping Jelar.

The beast catches Slim while he's talking sending him up into the air.

Got it, you'd be at -1 for the spirit check if you opt to not soak so spending a bennie to unshake works. You can act but it's at -1

We cannot kill it, and are unlikely to cause it much harm unless we try more explosives. I am for running away as we are of no help to the workers. It all depends on how badly it wants to kill us, as that will determine how closely it follows us when we run. But maybe we can set up the explosives and lure it into a trap?

Slim finally realizes the futility of his actions. He gives up on hurting the creature, an focuses on distancing themselves from it. 'This pistol aint doing much, and the explosives didn't fare much better. he says, panting as he tries to keep pace.

@Remnant: Where are we in relation to the base and the rock creature? Is there somewhere Jelar and Slim can setup a trap and then attract the alien?

Considering proximity to the beast that would be difficult. It's a way to the facilities which you're not really close to.

I suppose I could do something dramatic, light try to shove the grenade in one of it's crevices. or try talking to it?

Not sure if he can outrun this thing at his age, Slim decides to take one more chance at stopping the creature from following them. 'Go on, don't wait for me!' he yell, as he starts to heads toward moving stones.

If you want you definitely have time to get away but trying to get it someplace is going to have it stick and you hear it pop out and hit the ground as you attempt to run away. This went sideways probably with the shuttle trip in truth.
