We have already discussed this a bit in the Interest Check thread, but this thread provides a place for more discussion when it is needed, and for setting dials and thresholds for things like how deadly we want consequences to be (remember you can Resist, but we can talk about what that means how much is resisted).
My suggestion, to start, is that we do as the book suggests and have Resistance Rolls mostly reduce the severity of the consequence (when it is graduated, as with Harm), and mostly by one level, though reducing by two (or more) may happen if it makes more sense in the fiction. In cases where it makes more sense to negate the consequence we will do that. Each time, you should know what to expect before rolling.
The dials here are things we get to talk about --now as well as as we play. We can decide on things like how much of a thing we want in our game.
I will think about our first Job while we are discussing Characters, but you are also welcome (expected, even) to put forward Job ideas (take a look at the 'suggested' Opportunities on the various Crew sheets for inspiration.
We have all said we would like to see some Weird and some Social Jobs in the mix. Don't feel like you need to make a Crew focused on such things, and these are also dials we can set based do how much we want these types of Jobs or how much we want these aspects to be part of other Jobs.
Constant feedback is useful to calibrate the tone.
This thread is for stuff we want to- or don't want to see in our game, in that regard it seems similar to the Safety thread, but this is more about keeping the tone appropriate and fun, than about safety.
The setting of Doskvol is on the grim side, that is always there, but I am not very good at 'horror' games, and can not sustain constant horror or tension (I don't see how that would even work), so don't expect this to be 'horror' as a genre.
This game deals with death and what happens next, in a fantasy context. We can flavor things away from topics that disturb the players (maybe take that up in the Safety thread if needed), but ghosts, possession, 'demons', and possibly even 'vampires' will show up from time to time depending on what the Characters do.
Any 'politics' will be completely fantasy and 'imperial', and should bear no similarity to real world.
