Character Sheet
[ +- ] Picture
Being the only daughter of a spice merchant in Iruvia, Farah learned her ways in the bazaar, pickpocketing from the casual absent-minded traveller, and jumping over the rooftops to escape from the Iruvian guards. Soon she started to get involved in more serious criminal activities, and joined a band, where she developed a taste for opium* smoking.

When Iruvia got too small for her ambitions, she decided to move to Doskvol, where she would hire her services as an expert infiltrator, burglar and spy.

Nice.
Unless we have someone else from Iruvia it will be up to you to define what it was like back home. Add as much detail as you want, when it comes up. Keep things a mystery if you want.

Remember that The Devil's Footsteps also counts as Pushing yourself, so you also get the +1D or increased Effect that Pushing normally gives (if they can apply) in addition to the special benefits.

Your opium sounds a lot like Black Lotus or Dream Smoke. Since your Vice is Stupor and not Pleasure, I would assume it is more Black Lotus? Feel free to extemporise on and adjust this lore. Maybe you are trying to keep things under control and limit yourself to Dream Smoke but Black Lotus is easier to come by at your Lifestyle level? Maybe the Dream Smoke does not do it for you anymore?
Take a look at the drugs from the book, but you don't need to define this part of your Vice in more detail than you want, we don't have to know what your drug (if it even is a drug by the end) is called, and you don't have to only indulge in one means of stupor.

drugs (alchemical) Drawback (Volatile): "Woozy," lvl 1 harm.
> Black Lotus (i/1): A tar-like resin made from the leaves of the plant. Induces coma-like stupor and visions.
> Bloodneedle (i/3): Induces fever, euphoric mania, rampant energy.
> Dream Smoke (i/3): A milder formulation of black lotus. Induces a pleasant intoxication.
> Quicksilver (iv/1): A toxic metallic fluid. The user's mind opens further to the ghost field. Take +1d to Attune roll upon use, suffer level 2 harm ("Zoned-out").
> Spark (i/3): A measure of raw electroplasm blended with seawater. The user feels empowered and emits mild electrical energy.
> Trance Powder (i/3): A glittering blue powder. Induces a pleasant hypnotic trance when inhaled.

(testing the "post as character" option)

Oh, nice, I hadn't noticed there was a drugs section un the book. I would say that Farah probably uses both: Dream Smoke on a regular basis (she is officially addicted) and Black Lotus when she really needs something stronger to pass out, because of a bad day or whatever reason.

How long do you think Moon has been in Doskvol?
... couple of years or so ...
OK, so we don't see Moon 'new and looking for a place to stay'. Cool.

What did Moon do before she joined this Crew? She must have found somewhere to sleep till now? By the book ...Your crew has just formed and acquired a lair..., so she probably has not been 'with the Crew' all that time?
Was Moon maybe hoping that joining a Crew would come with perks like a place to stay? Now she is relieved they have Quarters? Or: Is she disappointed that they don't (yet) have Quarters? Does she live in the Lair anyway, even without Quarters (maybe 'camping out' on the floor, in everyone's way)? Is that maybe what pushes the Crew to build Quarters when they have the resources? Just ideas rattling round in my head, you don't have to use any of this. :)

We do kinda need to talk about the "Moon" part. Is that a nickname? Or is it an alias and people don't know your real name, possibly because of the past you are fleeing? This is mainly so we can use the correct name in the text.

What does the name mean to you? What does it mean to others?
In this setting the Moon is the brightest light in the sky --the sun only appears briefly, as a dim glow, at 'dawn' and 'dusk'-- so "Moon" might not have the expected connotations. Do people comment on the audacity, or do they assume it 'must mean something in her foreign lingo'?

The thing about the Quarters we can further discuss when we finally decide if we choose that upgrade or another one (let's see what my colleagues think about it)

About the nickname, I chose it for two reasons: evoking the night, silence, etc... that make a good burglar, and also because of this "middle east" feeling about Iruvia, as I thought the moon would be a symbol there like in our Real World (tm). :-)

My real name wouldn't be a secret (first name at least), but as people in Doskvol may have difficulties to properly pronounce Farah (you need a slight inspiration in the final H), they just call her Moon.

Cool, yeah the Quarters bit was supposed be in the other thread, this became about Moon so I moved it here, maybe moved too much. :)
However, your thoughts on how badly Moon needs the Quarters and whether you, personally, find the story of seeking them interesting, may influence which we pick (first).

Is this still an 'old world' thing? As I said, the moon is the brightest thing out there nowadays (with the sun destroyed, and all), so it might not have those same associations anymore?

The 'far away culture' association is most appropriate, and I like the 'I can't say their real name' angle. :)

Yeah, well, obviously I was not aware of this piece of lore when I chose the alias, hehe... But still, I guess that most heists are still carried out at night, right? So I would keep the name as a reference both to night and faraway culture.

Absolutely. Keep it if you like it. You are foreign, people will look at you funny anyway. :)

The Iruvian's also have the Rising Moon Fighting Style which you may be interested in learning. So 'Moon' is something cultural for them.
Your name may be a way to introduce you to the practitioners of that style (if you are interested). They may make assumptions, and have opinions. :)

You do not have permission to post in this thread.
