On one hand, not every newcomer will want to play d20 fantasy. On the other hand tons of people want d20 fantasy, and some are looking for D&D5e specifically. Admittedly, some of the latter just aren't aware there's even a choice.
I propose the framework be used to spawn 2 or more variants to cater to some of these broad categories.
In the end though, it's just an intro game. The intent always has been and always will be "There's a whole world of gaming out there (but you're no less of a gamer if you want to stick to one niche)."
