The angry creature lets out a roar as it is struck with a bolt from Gerbo's hand crossbow. As the Gnome leaves cover he quickly realizes the reach of the beast's tentacles are longer than anticipated! Gerbo is struck hard in the chest by the spikes of one of the tentacles, but manages to avoid the second swipe before ducking into some high grass.

With a low growl the beast starts forward only to be instantly surrounded by a swarm of beetles. It reels onto its hind legs and attempts to swat at the bugs with its long tentacles, but is unable to scatter the insects.
OOC:
22 points to the Displacer put some hurt on it!
Gerbo takes 10 HP damage.
Displacer Beast took a Ready action last turn, so used his Reaction to strike with his 10' reach.
The displacer beast has withdrawn to roughly 35' (10' from Gerbo)
Top of the order!

Round 2:
Gerbo, Karma, Belanor (any order)
Displacer Beast,
Kerisha

Belanor attempts to attack the creature from "the safety" of his tall grass.
OOC:
Because i'm not really trying to unhide myself would it be possible to attmept an attack at disadvantage for not really looking?
I'll add it just incase Also well add the "stealth" check too just incase.

Rolls

Litch slap (dis?) - (1d20+5, 1d20+5, 1d8)

1d20+5 : (15) + 5 = 20

1d20+5 : (3) + 5 = 8

1d8 : (2) = 2

Bless - (1d4)

(4) = 4

Stealth - (1d20+4)

(18) + 4 = 22

Sep 14, 2021 11:25 pm
Belanor's wild attack passes well over head of the Displacer Beast as it holds its ground, once again raising its tentacles in the air, ready to strike.
OOC:
The displacer beast has withdrawn to roughly 35' (10' from Gerbo)
@CaveJohnson - Since it's at range and the DB's focus is clearly on Gerbo at the moment, I'll play it out that way.
Kerisha is up.

Round 2:
Gerbo, Karma, Belanorany order)
Displacer Beast,
Kerisha

Kerisha pushes herself up, digging deep and trying not to show any pain, or the disappointment that her new armor didn't help. Blood drips from the wound on her leg. She uses another javelin like a crutch, staggering forwards a few steps before launching the javelin at the beast once more, nearly throwing herself off balance.
OOC:
Move: 10ft towards beast
Action: javelin attack

Im not sure if this attack should be advantage from guiding bolt, or disadvantage for the displacer beasts feature/skill so im goign to roll twice and use whatever is needed.

Rolls

Javelin attack - (1d20+4, 1d20+4)

1d20+4 : (17) + 4 = 21

1d20+4 : (19) + 4 = 23

Javelin damage - (1d6+2)

(3) + 2 = 5

Sep 15, 2021 8:37 pm
Kerisha's javelin flies true, embedding itself directly next to the other in the creature's back. The beasty falters a bit as all three of its right legs buckle, but its tentacles remain poised high above its head, ready to attack.
OOC:
The displacer beast has withdrawn to roughly 35' (10' from Gerbo, 25' from Kerisha)
Kerisha's attack would have been a normal attack, as there was both Advantage and Disadvantage. Now that she's hit the beast, every attack against it will be at an Advantage until the end of its next turn.

Round 3:
Gerbo, Karma, Belanor (any order)
Displacer Beast,
Kerisha

"Is it dead yet?" Belanor cries out from behind his grass pile.
Sep 16, 2021 2:07 am
"Not nearly dead enough, yet." Gerbo growls quietly through gritted teeth, backing up very carefully as he loads the hand crossbow again, until he is about 20 feet away from the beast. He takes aim, holding his breath, and releases as he pulls the trigger, hoping to put the creature down for good.
OOC:
Cunning action disengage>Move>Attack

Rolls

Attack, hand crossbow - (1d20+6)

(10) + 6 = 16

Advantage attack - (1d20+6)

(10) + 6 = 16

Damage (sneak attack) - (2d6+4)

(15) + 4 = 10

#blessed - (1d4)

(1) = 1

Sep 16, 2021 1:33 pm
Belanor will attempt the same attack, blindly attacking not really looking.
OOC:
putting both rolls and stealth if needed.

Rolls

Litch slap -> displacer beasty - (1d20+5, 1d20+5, 1d8)

1d20+5 : (17) + 5 = 22

1d20+5 : (6) + 5 = 11

1d8 : (7) = 7

Bless - (1d4)

(2) = 2

Stealth in tall grass (if needed) - (1d20+4)

(7) + 4 = 11

Sep 16, 2021 7:59 pm
Casting blindly from his grass fortress, Belanor's attack is high and wide, eventually fizzling out well beyond the target.

Gerbo, however, has better luck. Deftly sneaking out of range, the Rogue lines up a perfect shot that strikes his opponent in the face. The Displacer Beast lets out a loud yelp, followed by a roar. It staggers and lowers its tentacles.
OOC:
Round 3:

Displacer Beast,
Kerisha

Karma moves towards the beast unhooking a light hammer and hurling it.
OOC:
Move: 25ft towards Displacer
Action: Ranged attack with light hammer
[ +- ] Barksmoker

Rolls

Light hammer vs Displacer - (1d20+3)

(7) + 3 = 10

Damage - (1d4+1)

(2) + 1 = 3

Sep 16, 2021 11:26 pm
The Displacer Beast watches Karma's hammer land harmlessly in the grass before turning away from the group and fleeing in the opposite direction as fast as its legs will carry it.
OOC:
DP has put another 80' of distance between itself and the closest of the group, so it's at least 100' away at this point. If there's no desire to chase (which would be my guess), we'll end the combat here.
Round 3:
Gerbo, Belanor, Karma (any order)
Displacer Beast,
Kerisha

"How about that last hit? Is it dead now?" Belanor reaches over to let loose another spell. Having the target out of range, the spell fizzles (Chill touch).

He clinches onto the hilt of his sword. Oh man, does this mean I'll have to use this sword now? I was hoping to just keep it for decoration. I mean most leave me alone when they see this.
OOC:
oh man just think how bad I'll be in close quarters lol
OOC:
oops, looking closer it looks like I should have been crossed out, so this post can be for after Kerisha's turn

Kerisha pulls herself up straight to see the beast retreating. As much as the Gruumsh worshiping side of her wants to hunt the beast down, get the kill and wear the beasts tail with pride, she preys the beast finds waters blessed by Eldath so that it can heal and recover. Kerisha has always felt that connection with nature, and deep in her heart she feels The Green Goddess protected her when she was out in the wilds. Kerisha always thinks back to that bear drinking from the same stream, almost as if Eldath had manifested herself as the bear to guide her and inspire her.

That beasts tail would make a lovely belt though...

As the beast retreats Karma retrieves his thrown hammer and shakes his head, "That was one cranky cat. Anyone hurt?"
Sep 19, 2021 3:59 pm
Gerbo walks around retrieving bolts, mumbling to himself. "Damn thing ruined my favorite shirt." Pulling his shirt open, he winces as he feels his muscles ache. "I'm not bleeding, but it hurts. That bugger packed a punch."

Karma will attend to any wounds.

With the sun setting it's time to decide whether to push on towards Thundertree through the evening, dealing with whatever nasties lurk in the tall grass at night or find a relatively safe place to camp.
OOC:
If you push through the night everyone will take a CON ST vs some yet to be determined amount to see if you reach the first level of Exhaustion. If you camp, we'll need a watch detail.

"I am happy to trek on into the evening dudes, but it maybe better to camp for those injured or lacking sight in the dark." Karma says looking around at the injuries.
OOC:
Happy to go with the majority here, my vote is to walk on.
Sep 21, 2021 4:21 pm
OOC:
I have mending!! I can fix shirts for a modest fee of course xD
Belanor stands hearing Karma yell for wounded. (It's the universal sign for all clear). He brushes himself off and says,"That doesn't sound good. Plus all this walking like that, I'm getting a bit tired. I think we should set up cam over there." Belanor points in a random direction like he knows what he's doing.
OOC:
Belanor votes for camp, and would take 1 or 3 shift if needed
Sep 21, 2021 5:20 pm
Gerbo rubs his chest a little. "I think maybe I should sleep this one off, Karma." He walks in the direction Belanor points (he knows next to nothing about camping) and starts making a nest out of his bedroll.
OOC:
Gerbo is on board with camping.
