Mission 1.2: Sinister Trail

The journey was the same as usual. As Tariq takes over to drive, Matsuki, Nikolai, and Zakk eventually fell asleep to the monotony.

While Tariq was driving through yet another stretch of rocky plains, he thought he saw something moving in the corner of his eyes. He thought it wasn't anything, until he sees movement again. It's like a something with legs just rushed by behind the boulders. However, judging by the way the shadows move under the head lights of the vehicle, it could also just be his imagination. Or maybe it could be a newly discovered species.

The sight of the movements causes Tariq's heart to beat faster. As he tries to squint at his surroundings, he can't see anything moving again, or the shape of anything that isn't rock-like.

Tariq continues on driving. As he drives on, he seems to not see the thing he saw again. He accepts it as being an illusion.

By now, Tariq have driven for 6 hours. Everyone is beginning to wake up again.

Everyone does whatever personal business quickly, including refueling the fuel tank of the vehicle. From there, Matsuki continues to take the wheel.

After a couple of hours, the truck comes across a field with a scattering of holes. These pits are not as large as the one seen earlier, but they are still large enough for the truck to tumble into if careless. So far, Matsuki is able to navigate through this area easily, as the holes are visible, and the space between them is decently large enough.
