Our adventure takes place in what is colloquially known as "The Biting North" the region of icy tundra that dominates the northern reaches of the Greying Wildlands and the whole of the Eiselcross archipelago.
QUICK NOTES - NOHME TOWN:
Nohme Town is located on the northern coast of the Greying Wildlands - the closest port to Eiselcross. The small town has had a boom in population and development over the last few years, after an expedition into the uncharted regions of Eiselcross revealed artifacts from a long-gone civilization of incredible magic power. Now explorers from the Greying Wildlands, as well as their warring neighbors to the East and West (the Kyrn Dynasty and Dwendalian Empire, respectively), are eager to venture out into the dangerous and inhospitable wilderness, in hopes of uncovering a powerful relic for themselves.
Nohme is the largest town north of the mountains in the Greying Wildlands, and is the center of trade for several small villages in the area.

Geography: Nohme is the largest town north of the mountains in the Greying Wildlands, and is the center of trade for several small villages in the area.

The climate is cold and windy, rainfall is scant, and only the most hardy of shrubs and plant life survive the winter. Mountain goats, foxes, hares, bears, lynx and birds live in this mountainous tundra.

The ocean north of Wildemount that separates it from Eiselcross. This ocean is known for its ice floes and treacherous waters. Those who sail its dangerous waters are known as Ice Sailors, and are highly skilled. They have to be to fight off or evade the numerous Revelry-aligned pirate groups that roam this area, looking to pillage artifacts explorers found from the islands.
Not much is known about what lurks beneath these frigid depths, but common fish include walleye, pike, and rainbow trout. Orca and seals can often be seen in the sea between the islands. Rumors that sea monsters lurk beneath the waves has not been substantiated, but not a single sailor doubts that is the case.
The Eiselcross Archipelago - far north of the rest of Wildemount, this collection of imposing islands of ice, danger, and powerful, forgotten relics was dismissed as an uninhabitable glacial wasteland of blizzards and yetis for centuries, until recent years when ancient magical relics were discovered by explorers on the main island.
[ +- ] DETAILS
Population: Unknown - nomadic tribes of ‘Wildfolk’ and Yeti are the only reported indigenous people. No permanent settlement has been established in Eiselcross. There are usually around 600 or less explorers on the entire archipelago at any given time.
Demographics: Explorer demographics are equally split between the Diarchy of Uthodurn, Kyrn Dynasty and Dwendalian Empire. 24% Human, 24% Dwarves, 16% Drow, 8% Elves, 8% Orcs, 20% Other.
Government: Eiselcross has no independent government - outposts are supposedly governed by their home country's laws, but being so far out means they are rarely supervised.
Geography: Eiselcross is an archepelago of 8 islands. The largest island, which takes up over half of the region's land, is Foren, followed by: Glier, Biessel, Frostbogen, Dampfkan, Schneescel, Taergross, and Kaltsel.
One major river flows from south to north in Foren, and is also one of it's most striking landmarks. The River Inferno is a massive, mile-wide, rapid-flow river of molten lava. There is no visible source - the flow appearing from the southern end of the island then disappearing again at the north end, just as mysteriously. Researchers believe the river is connected to the Elemental Plane of Fire. While water becomes steam upon hitting the molten surface, icebergs or fallen snow from Eiselcross do not melt in its intense heat, further emphasizing its unnatural origins.
Environment: For those who struggled in the frosty tundra of the Crystalsands, the climate of Eiselcross is nearly unbearable. The archepelago rarely rises about freezing, and the land is nearly glacial with packed snow and ice. Furthermore, there's a magical ecosystem at play that is not yet fully understood, with centuries-old relics from a forgotten civilization influencing the land in mysterious ways. Flora is scarce, but hardier plants grow in the crevices of the mountains, where the cold cannot reach. Many dangerous monsters make this region their home, notably yetis, as well as mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, remorhazes, rocs, and, rumors say, an ancient white dragon.

Syrinlya is the Uthodurnian outpost established by Professor Gulrim Shalebrow. A small settlement of less than 200 explorers, 70% dwarves. Used as a starting point for expeditions into the main Eiselcross island of Foren.

Balenport - an outpost on Foren run by the Cerberus Assembly, a group of extremely powerful mages from the Dwendalian Empire. A small settlement of less than 200 mages, 70% human. Used as a starting point for expeditions into the main Eiselcross island of Foren.
Vurmas - a floating outpost made of three connected Kyrn Dynasty ships, stationed off the coast of one of the smaller Eiselcross islands - Gelier. A crew of less than 200 sailors, 50% drow and 25% orcish.

Cobalt Station is a research center, located near the heart of Foren. It is a small facility, meant to house up to 100 people, but actually only ever serving 20 or so researchers there at any given time. The station was created and is run by The Cobalt Soul - a Dwendalian organization of scholars who are dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. This is just one of their many research facilities, libraries, archives, and museums that have created across all of Wildemount. The first reported case of The Frigid Woe disease was discovered by the scientists stationed at this base, and it is also where a cure was developed and synthesized. Contact with Cobalt Station has been lost for weeks.
