Welcome Wolfiedabs32

Welcome Wolfiedabs32.

I saw in your Intro thread that you are new to RPG? That is not a problem, we can teach as we go along.

What at you hoping to get from this game? Just exposure to more systems?
Note that this system is very simple. While that means it is quick and easy to read though, it means it does not offer much guidance to the player about what they can do, this can be a good thing, but can also be stressful and confusing. Ask lots of questions and we can work out the answers together.

Note that this game has been rather quiet. I set it up as part of an effort to have games available for new players when they join the site, but nothing has happened here yet, only the every popular genre of Fantasy has seen much action [ref]. You are currently the only player here, OkumHart was active in a few of my other games, but has not been online in many months.

If need be we can try recruit more players. Cyberpunk is not an ideal setting/system for solo play (when there is only one player (and maybe a GM)). Solo play can be a good way to learn role-playing, but can also be stressful --or a lot of work-- as all the spotlight is on you, all the time, and you don't have other players to bounce ideas off of.

If you are wanting to try this, we can look at getting some help. Are you specifically interested in Cyberpunk? What is your understanding of what it is? Just so we can calibrate this. ('Cyberpunk' is ill-defined and means different things to different people.)
Take a look at the Help! thread for guidance. Feel free to ask any question here or in the General Chat depending on where they seem relevant.

You can find the Game's Rule Book copied here for easy access, or get the PDF. You may find the Character Creation section useful to get an idea of the sorts of character this game offers.

Hello, what I always looking for is mostly I want to start off small but eventually I would love to expand my horizon to other games even though Fantasy is my all time favorite I would never turn down the experience of trying other things out. But as if right now I just want to learn how to do the basics bc the only thing I already kind of know is how to roleplay but even then I am not the most experienced at that. I don't want to overwhelm myself too much bc there is just so much to learn that it is crazy daunting.

Also I am not all that new to the RPG genre overall those are my favorite video games! It's just I have never jumped into Tabletop most due to the thought of having to do loads of math ( that I completely suck in) of course I can do it, it's just that I take forever and I would agree to slow anyone down if I were to play irl.

Ok I am fine with trying to recruit other players if we should, I think it would also be way more fun overall too.

Cyberpunk is kind of new to me, because I do have some surface level knowledge of it from watch others play the game Cyberpunk. So far I do know it's usually set in some kind of dystopian and futuristic settings and there are always low-lifes being oppressed by rich higher ups and it's all being combined with computer tech and possibly societal collapse.

I am interested in trying my hand is the fantasy pool as a whole even though I have only ever played more medieval like rpgs but I think trying something new would be nice.

Also I am already in love with your world I just got done reading thru everything and I can tell I have some hard decisions to for sure hahaha
Edit:
I have a question and idk if this is too far fetched in this type of world but I have been absolutely obsessed with multiple armed characters ( as I am sure u have read about my LionFolk) but would that be way outside of this type of setting? Like two human arms but two other arms that are made of some kind of tech?

I was worried about that, but did not want to discourage you. Everyone learns differently and it may be that trying a whole lot of things is what will be best, but it may also be that you get overwhelmed and confused. Even us old-hands get confused between the way one game does things vs others. :)

Video games are very different to TTRPGs. A video game has a set story and you are stuck doing that, you have to accept the limitations of what the programmers programmed in. A live and reactive GM can allow you to do anything; If it is insane, they can still let you try, or you can stop and chat to them about why what you are trying is not feasible in the 'real world' you are playing in and how to achieve it. This option is seldom available with the video game programmers. :)

You may struggle, at first, to 'free your mind' from the shackles you have accepted as normal from CRPGs. Practice. :)

PbP kinda fixes both of those. There is more time to do the math, but there are also dice rollers that can do some of it for you. Simple things like rolling a dice and adding a few modifiers are well within the capabilities of the dice roller here. And, since you are at a computer, you can get out a calculator and do more complex stuff if need be.

You mean the Cyberpunk 2077 game? While they use the name 'Cyberpunk' that is a bit presumptuous. That is not definitive of what cyberpunk is.

I know nothing about that game. I have not played a computer game in decades.

Often, but not always. I have done 'cyberpunk' in modern --non-dystopian-- times, and there are medieval fantasy versions as well: Cryptomancer and The Spire come to mind. Shows like Leverage and Burn Notice are also sorta 'cyberpunk'.

Fundamentally the 'cyber' part means technology and computers play a role, and the 'punk' part means some form of 'standing up to/against the man'. Other than that it is a broad and loosely-defined genre. We can do with it what we want.

A big one is Shadowrun, which combines dystopian future with fantasy elements of elves and orcs. It is an interesting setting but a terrible ruleset. I find it better to keep them separate, so there is no magic planned in this game.

There are other branches of 'fantasy' that are not medieval. Star Wars is generally agreed to be fantasy (space wizards, and all), and there is a lot of 'Modern Urban Fantasy' with things like Buffy and Supernatural.

Generic 'Fantasy', as DnD does it, is still probably the most common and easily found variety.

There is very little defined about the world. Most of my games rely on the players creating the details and fleshing it out.
Wolfiedabs32 says:

You mean: because there are so many choice? Yeah, it can be overwhelming at first.
Don't worry about it too much, you can always change things later, either by making a new character (always an option in all games) or I am very open about allowing players to swap out things that they find are not working they way they thought they would.

Rather than editing an existing post and adding a question, just add a new post. The system does not let us know that you edited it, and if I have not come back after reading your first part I would never have know you had asked a question.

It has been a while since I last read the rules, but I see no reason you could not add extra prosthetic arms if you can afford them.

The problem most GMs will have with such things is working out how they will affect the world, and how the mechanics of such things would work without being overpowered and making the other players feel bad. I am sure we can work it out.

Most GMs should be OK with you having multiple arms in the fiction with it giving you (no, or) very little benefit in the mechanics.
