The Gods Speak...

(This game is to test out the new feature where the public can comment on games they are 'not in'. It uses The Sundered Land --an inverted game of one player and many GMs-- by the Bakers of PbtA fame.)

I'm a warrior seeking peace and an end to bloodshed. I'm on pilgrimage to the Temple to No Gods in the distant City of Gulls. My pilgrimage has brought me to [a random, bad place], inhabited by [random enemies]. My goal is to pass safely through and continue my pilgrimage.

You, my friends online, play the world. Your goal is to see me to my doom, instead of safely on my way. You're allowed only to directly answer my direct questions, though, so you might not be able to do it.

The rules:
1. Only answer my questions.
2. If you don't already know the answer, make something up.
3. Keep your answers short.
4. If your answer's disruptive, I'm allowed to delete it.
5. Otherwise, I have to go with the first answer somebody gives.

By RAW I take the first answer. But if time has passed in the real, I will look at the end of the thread to see if a majority have picked another, and use that instead.

These "Open to the Public Threads" --for games you are not in-- disappear from the screen quite fast, so it might behoove you to subscribe to maintain the appearance of godly awareness. :)

This question might be too complex for the format.

Let's see what comes of it. We may need to put a few answers together.

I also don't know about having two threads. But things can get messy in this one and make it very hard for newcomers to read the story and catch up if it is mixed in.

It has not come, but it is coming. You should gather allies.

The Hyenas are attacking something but it's not you it's something larger and it might kill both of you a truce might be your only option.

They will join forces only if you first bring them the tears of the shadow mother.

You find a vast shadow plain where the ghosts of those slain here wander eternally.

Surrounding you are the shades of those you have slain. These shadowy ghosts are your children.

Yeah, similar answers, both are true.

What comes next?

A blazing sun rises in the east, casting stark shadows. The shadow mother! Your target. Now to get its tears.

Anyone should answer.
The ghosts have noticed you but do not hinder you. They sing a plaintive lament. And you realize the hyenas are conduits; their songs are echoes from this shadow realm.

Quoting the last question is a good idea Jabes. It stops us (by which, I mean me) from getting confused.

Yeah I highly recommend anyone who answers to quote the question.

This is fun!

Yes. The linking between the threads, and therefore between the questions and answers is a little loose. I have done a few links to the question thread, but can not --without editing-- link to the answer. I have not found a neat way to link from here to the answer.

Currently readers need to sync things by tracking the timestamps. We can experiment with other ways.

Should I copy the questions to this thread each time? I considered it at first.

Dunno. But you've certainly inspired us on discord to experiment. I think I might try it with just one game thread (for both the GMs and the player).

That is often how it was played. It was designed for G+ (and even has rules related to that platform). Often all was mixed in together, but it could get messy if there were lots of replies between posts.

At the rate of posting in this thread it would not have been a problem.

I will try all in one for the next one.

This plane of the dead has no end but it has an edge, and like a quill coming to the boundary of parchment, you cross over to the other side.

OOC:
With many voices clamouring to be heard, it can get a bit surreal. Not all sequiturs are apropos, but --unless deliberately disruptive-- I am bound to take what I am given.

This one went on longer than I expected --though not longer than 'normal'. Games can often be very short.

These gods have been comparatively merciful. :)

The hyenas lick the recondensing sweat from your face. Sweat - the tears of the sun. They accept you, and you shall be part of the tribe once they have digested your flesh.
