Collaborative idea Inspired by Me, Myself & Die

Hi there. I''m not sure if this is the right place to post this - let me know and I'll move it or delete it or whatever.

I've been watching Trevor Devall's "Me, Myself & Die" solo gaming channel, and I've tried running solo along the same lines, and it made me think how cool it would be to have two brains rather than one interpreting, scheming, etc. If anyone is up for trying something like this, I'd love to give it a shot.

What I'm envisioning is something using Mythic GME, the Game Master's Apprentice Decks, and/or other "oracles" as prompts for a collaborative storytelling venture. As the focus would be on story and characters, I was thinking of an easy to learn rules lite system for the game aspects. I've become a big fan of Tri Cube Tales for this - which is free to download and has a wealth of additional free materials that provide examples of settings, character types, randomized adventure seeds, etc.

If this sounds interesting to anybody, please let me know. Again, sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot.

Hey Whatsup, yeah I am, and I don't care for it. It seems like it would be a good fit conceptually, but not for me. I find it tedious, cumbersome, and uninspiring. It was because of Ironsworn that i couldn't make it through more than a few episodes of Season 2 of MM&D.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I might give it a watch too :)

I don't think I'm the right person to help you out with such a game, but if you make it a public game I'd be interested in following along.

Yeah, I can agree with the first two, though it gets better with some practice.

What's Mythic GME, then?

And, I've just purchased four of the Apprentice Decks, they look brilliant.

Mythic is a game master emulator. It's quite clever and a tad complex but it can twist a story in unexpected ways. It's commonly used in solo games (a game with one player with Mythic acting as the GM)

I too enjoyed Trevor's videos but lost interest when he chose Ironsworn. I managed a short solo game using the system and made it easier on myself by using Roll20 because the character sheet makes it easy to look up the moves. Still I found it tedious at times.

I have the GMA decks but have yet to use them.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll find people interested to try this.

Aha. Well, Mythic did not sound as interesting to me as the Apprentice Decks, but I see its potential.

On another note, I watched the first episode of MM&D with Savage Worlds, and though I like SW in general, the combat scene definitely felt tedious and cumbersome for me. Especially when compared to Ironsworn's alternative, simplified combat system.

I love pretty much everything about SW, but I agree with you there. Because of the way the damage system works, you can get stuck in these rinse and repeat cycles where you hit but can't beat your opponent's toughness. That can be mitigated by thinking outside the "I swing" box and finding ways to shift the odds in your favor, but its a lot harder to do when you're playing solo than with teammates.

So, how about a Down in the Depths game?

That sounds great! I'll definitely need some help brainstorming on that one, but what a cool and different setting.

I've created the game and invited you.

In the end, I decided to buy Mythic GME as well, I felt it was worth its price, so I have all the stuff you mentioned in the first post.

If anyone's interested in how it goes, the game forums are public.

Oh wow, thanks Whatsup! That's awesome, I wasn't exactly sure what to do next. See you all in the other forum.

I've started watching the Me, Myself & Die series. Loving it so far. That guy's voices are amazing! I'm definitely checking out your game :)
Have fun!

I'm only seeing the "Game prep" thread. Is that all there is so far, or did something go wrong with the settings?

So far, yes. We've just started.

Still getting the foundations established. Actual play to begin as soon as that's done.
