[Interest Check] Mutant: Year Zero

Hello good folks of Gamers*Plane, I'm seeing if anyone'd be interested if I were to host a Mutant: Year Zero ongoing campaign. If you're unfamiliar with it, M:YZ is (currently) published by Free League and uses their d6 dice pool mechanic--it's pretty simple and if you've played Tales from the Loop, Things from the Flood, Alien, or Vaesen then you're already partly familiar with it!

My goal would be to have a regular, ongoing campaign that plays through the setting's over-arching meta-plot. The meta ultimately jumps to different regions and styles of character, but to start we'd be doing the Year Zero flavor--players are young mutants in an "Ark," trying to stop their people from going extinct due to the harshness of the irradiated "Zone" that surrounds them. Despite the harsh realities of this apocalyptic earth the players strive toward building hope in their Ark, and maybe finding it out in the Zone--including perhaps locating the fabled Eden.

Anyway, I'd ask for 1/day weekday commitment, and perhaps some input in building out some of the features of the game world players are meant to take a role in--such as choosing type of Ark (and some of it's key features) and types of bosses (gang-leaders) are in the ark. I perfectly content with as few as 2 to 3 players--the setting lends itself to lots of individual play if that's how a given group approaches it.

Well let me know if anyone would like to join still style of game!

This sounds interesting. I played in Modiphius's version, but not this one.

And my experience is the opposite! I've played FL's Year Zero at table for a few months, and really dug the mechanics and story we were making.

I'm not sure what the difference in the mechanics is! I assume the Modiphius is 2d20???

I played/ran Forbidden Lands which uses the YZ Engine but only read the Mutant book. Also own the videogame, which reminds me I should get to actually play it too. Consider me excited.

Unfortunately, I'm already tangled up on several games here and life is too unpredictable for me to seriously commit to a 1/workday post rate (sometimes it's more like 1/week) but it's not every day someone talks of a MYZ game and damnit I don't wanna miss the opportunity. Keep me in mind as a reserve if you lack players or hit me up if you get so many thst you might not mind my sporadic posts.

You take a number of dice based on your skills and attributes and roll them, and any rolls that are high enough will count as successes. In Mutant: Year Zero you only roll 6-sided dice, and when doing a test you add up your attributes, skill values and any relevant items that you want to use and any further modifiers and roll dice based on that.

I got things together to run this game in real life but never had the chance to. I would absolutely love the chance to do so.

Count me in as well.

Sorely tempted -- the robot and animal adventures always looked great to me...

Just to clarify, Modiphius amd Free League are the same edition, Modiphius just distributed in the US because Free League wasn't as popular yet. But they are the same game.

Also, I'm interested! Mostly interested in MY0 and Genlab Alpha. Mechatron was super interesting but I don't like the premise of the machine's place in the overarching setting.

1/day is a bit much but I think I can do it.

I’d be interested as well if there’s space

O.K., so I'm new here and honestly don't have a gauge yet for what's a lot of posts! Is once a day a lot? I'm genuinely curious about the answer! I can see even just, like, 3/wk being well supported in the system. As noted there are lots of opportunities for solo play, in the ark for example, where different PCs track down different/personal goals.

Ah! I had no idea! That's cool to hear and might explain why I've had trouble finding what the difference is!

That's my plan, is to move from MY0 to Genlab A, to at least Elysium, and perhaps even beyond!

So it sounds like there is some interest so I'll start putting something together!

I think most games here tend to be 1/day or 3/week. There are games that are slower or faster than that but generally, most advertise around that frequency.

Daily posts from the whole crew is pretty speedy, and generally a good mark to shoot for if you want some pace in the game IMO. I'm going to hold off here, but good luck with the game.
