Hrmph! "I can't believe Spuignor would be involved. He seems like such an earnest fellow," Eltrezar grumbles, though he doesn't snuff out his light. The halfling was paranoid, but she might also be right.

Luban has to stop himself as the spellcaster calls out, and Gilly urges patience. His body hurts from the arrow he had taken earlier, and the room spins a little. So he waits, with bow drawn and arrow nocked.

Mal agrees with Gilly and waits for the others to catch up...

So for this round I have:

Gilly: Waiting for the torchbearers to arrive.
Ora: Used Suggestion (I'll call that an Action). Any movement?
Maloria: Waiting for the torchbearers to arrive
Thurig: Unconscious
Eltrezar: ???
Luban: Waiting for the torchbearers to arrive.

Does that sound about right?

OOC:
Not to spam the ability or anything, but it seems like a pivotal moment here!

Yes if you actually have something to spam at 1st level then by all means, spam!
With everyone gathered, Mal presses forward once more...
Jun 26, 2022 4:40 pm
The young wizard begins to reply, then catches himself. A second later he returns a guarded response. "Because this hired man of ours can't see in the dark any better than I can, and if you bring your torches here he's likely to skewer me on the end of two arrows..."
Jun 26, 2022 4:43 pm
Luban stands beside the dwarf, hoping it doesn't come down to taking another arrow, and trudges onward letting Mal lead the way.

@dominion451 and @cowleyc:
Mal's Movement Rate is 90'. Luban's is 120'.
Are we doing a full-on, double-time sprint up to your PC's full Movement Rate this turn, or a cautious exploratory speed of 1/3 your Movement Rate?

Nevermind, @cowleyc: If Luban is letting Mal lead, I'll keep him no further ahead than where Mal stops this Round.

How far ahead does Spugnoir's voice sound? I'm thinking we should move cautiously but if he sounds way far off then maybe one round of full move...

OOC:
He sounds a pretty good ways off. It sounds like his voice is mildly muffled with a lot of stonework and angles for the sound to negotiate its way through to reach Ora and the rest of the party. Also, Maloria doesn't see any torchlight coming from around the corner from the direction of the crypts, so if there's an ambush in the works coming from Spugnoir, he's waiting in the darkness.

Following Maloria's lead, the party advances through the black stone halls, returning to the east/west crosswing of the burial crypts. Mal's armor forces her gait short, and the less encumbered and more light of foot companions stay to her rear. As she's about to enter the north/south chamber of the crypts, her Infravision falls on the heat signature of the man at arms, just as the light of Ora's torch falls on the gleam of a metal buckle on a leather boot.

Then the Trading Post Man-at-Arms is out on the open, bow in one hand and two arrows in his other. He crosses through the small disc of Ora's torch light for a moment before slipping back into the darkness beyond it again, and only Luban and Maloria can see him skirting along the west wall, making his way towards the earthen tunnel broken through the southern end of the crypts.

As he makes his way across the room, two arrows fly out of the darkness at the party, now perfectly illuminated for him.

OOC:
As noted often before, the Man-at-Arms can fire two shots when attacking with a bow. With Maloria taking charge of the group's advancement and acting as at least partial cover for most following her lead, and also because the Man-at-Arms has other reasons he wants to see Maloria taken out, he will fire at the cleric.
Both arrows, fired off with a snap from the darkness, miss the cleric handily.

Rolls

Man-at-Arms Attack roll, Damage roll (#1) - (1d20, 1d6)

1d20 : (12) = 12

1d6 : (3) = 3

Man-at-Arms Attack roll, Damage roll (#2) - (1d20, 1d6)

1d20 : (3) = 3

1d6 : (4) = 4
