OOC:
What did we do last time Luban tried palming a gem in front of the party? Was that a Pick Pocket roll?

OOC:
He's underwater in the dark!

...but if you need it...

Sorry, the lack of clarity was my fault. The pin and bone tube were "[i]n the water, near a ledge which drops abruptly into the depths below". So a shelf of rock that's maybe only a foot or so in depth before a deep drop-off straight down. That's why I didn't think it unusual that you said Luban was taking his boots off again. On the illustration of the pool I tried to make the shallower ledge lighter colored, and the drop-off a darker blue, but I'll draw whereabouts the items would have been found.

OOC:
Perhaps that changes what Luban would have tried to do.

OOC:
That absolutely changes it! He isn't about to get whacked by Stoneforge's hammer! I was imagining it deeper in.

Mal shakes her head and waves the sword towards Luban,

"Far be it from me to deny you anything at this moment. I can't speak for the others but as far as I'm concerned the sword is yours."

Ora is suddenly buzzing with curiosity, and then a little crestfallen as the half-orc gives the scroll case to the competition. In any case, the scholar would give her the magick for her to work while they remained in the keep, at least.

"Shall we open it then, Spugnoir?"

"But what kind of magic sword is it?"

Gilly thought it would be an excellent find if they happened across something that burst into flames in a fight, or that shot lightening from it when the wielder so chose!

Spugnoir looks at Ora and breaks the seal of wax on one end of the tube, then pulls the cork out. As predicted, the tube contains three scrolls. "Er... I'm afraid these scrolls are written in an arcane language, and I did not prepare Read Magic before we set out this morning, Ora. Can you read them, by any chance?"
OOC:
I think Ora has a 50% chance of reading each of the three scrolls, according to the Mage, correct?

OOC:
Yes! Fail, and she needs to wait for a level up, or Spugnoir to cast Read Magic.

Ora takes a moment to read over each scroll on goth. Maybe it’s the light down here, or the leftover jitters from the fight but the first one stumps her.

"Now this… this is jibberish. I can’t make out a single thing. But these two…"

She double checks her work before finally speaking up again:

"These two are…"

"At your disposal, so long as we remain in these dungeons," replies Spugnoir. "Unfortunately, it would seem your companion is in no condition to continue exploring these ruins and I suspect our return to Hommlet is imminent."
Jun 12, 2022 6:50 pm
"Yes, I would like to get Thurig back to Hommlet as soon as possible, though I think we should check out that hole in the crypt upstairs first..."

Dressing himself and retrieving his bow, Luban agrees with Mal. It's worth a look. Best case, treasure. Worst case, a dragon. He shrugs and moves towards the hallway where Eltrezar waits.

Oh, what the heck... I wrote a whole thing up and hit "Post", and it seems to have not taken...
Ora pulls the parchments out of the tube and unrolls each of them. The first is written in a hurried hand and while she makes out some patterns and arcane figures, the spell eludes her for the tie being. The second and third she recognizes instantly, one being a Scroll of Detect Evil (2nd Level), and the other a Scroll of Fly (3rd Level).

"Well, we can’t lug him around with us. Are we going to leave him back by the ladder? Where the ghouls cornered us?

That way we can investigate the hole?"

"Detect Evil! Oh, very nice. Should I try that one now? Just for fun! See if any of us are not what we say?"

She lets the question linger a second, basking in the awkwardness, and then and then she laughs.

"And this is a flying spell. Anyone ever wanted to get a bird’s eye view of this place?"
Jun 13, 2022 4:28 am
Hrmph! "Perhaps send in the shorter folks to scout the tunnel. And a thief. The rest of wait by the entrance.
If there is nothing to find, we return with haste."

How is Thurig being carried out from the pool room?
