I guess Eltrezar will go the full 40ft, ending diagonal from Mal.

Long shot here but could Mal move up her 20' and then throw her hammer at the mud bug? Thor style? Dwarves are famous for throwing hammers... ;)
OOC:
I would definitely let Mal throw a hammer, probably with a penalty to her attack roll for throwing a unbalanced weapon, except the wall is in the way. She can't get the hammer around the corner. There's actually a ability in the Carcass Crawler Kineticist Class that lets you throw a weapon in an arc like a boomerang, which I would allow to go around corners probably, alas the only "Kineticist" in this campaign so far was Turuko, and you guys fed him to the ghouls.

Eltrezar moves his full 40', presumably to trick-shot one of his daggers off the wall and into the pool on the missile attack phase? Id so feel free to roll it.

(Eltrezar's point of view, now:)

We'll see what @KCC does and then we'll resolve all missile and melee results.

OOC:
Ok, pushing my luck here but since our initiative occured simultaneously could Mal have thrown the hammer at the moment the bug started moving thus keeping in range? Her attack roll was 17 so even with a penalty I feel good about the odds...

I guess I could also ask if this is a fighting withdrawal at half movement or a retreat in which case it suffers a penalty of 2 to AC...

I'm grasping at straws here lol

If only movement is allowed, then Gilly will get into firing range of the thing. Hopefully she can shoot it dead before we have to go diving for dwarves.

Ora will also move up, but do nothing more.

I’ll have a post in the game thread tomorrow if you’re all still interested in continuing out game. If so, I’d like to get back on our regular pace again.

Thanks for your patience.

OOC:
Unfortunately, even though the Initiative occurred simultaneously, throwing a hammer would be in the ranged attack phase of the Round, with all movement being settled first, including the Giant Crayfish's.

OOC:
Good point. It did not make a Fighting Retreat, moving its normal Encounter Movement Rate, and thus forfeited its attack on this Turn, plus all attackers get a +2 bonus to their attack this Round if they can make one.

Having completed the movement phase, any Missile attacks can be rolled. That would be Gilly's bow, and a dagger from Eltrezar, I believe. They would have penalty of 2 for shooting through allies, but a bonus of 2 for the crayfish's retreat off sets this penalty.

Desperate, Gilly aims for the creature again as it prepares to submerge itself.

Rolls

1d20+3, 1d6

1d20+3 : (1) + 3 = 4

1d6 : (1) = 1

Eltrezar, feeling desperate, takes one final throw of a dagger. The light in the room swings wildly as the lantern is swirled around his body in some form of counterbalance. Between the corner and the companions all in his way, his aim isn't as true as he'd like. After all, he isn't a young adventurer anymore, banking daggers off stone walls.

Rolls

Attack - (1d20-1)

(4) - 1 = 3

Damage - (1d4)

(1) = 1

Both the wizard's and halfling's missiles miss their mark by a long shot. As the crawdad prepares to dip back into the pool with it's dwarven prey, the Man-at-Arms and Luban strike at it. Luban's sword slashes across the crayfish's rostrum, burying itself into the hard shell. Gore and ichor spill out as the Half-Orc pulls his blade free and it hisses in pain. Its movements suddenly seem labored and jerky as it clearly intends to continue its retreat.
OOC:
Round 3 concludes! Round 4 begins with the Giant Crayfish at the edge of the pool, nearly dead, and desperate to flee to the depths of the pool with Thurig's unconscious body. The party absolutely needs to win initiative this round or Maloria's old friend is likely lost.

Rolls

Man-at-Arms Attack roll, Damage roll - (1d20+2, 1d8)

1d20+2 : (6) + 2 = 8

1d8 : (7) = 7

OOC:
Round 4 begins! Turn order is as follows:
1. Giant Crayfish, Gilly, Eltrezar, Maloria, Luban, Ora, Trading Post Man-at-Arms, Spugnoir

1. There's no magic casting this round!
2. We now go to Movement phase. Anyone moving may do so, though I don't see how Thurig doesn't get pulled under, to be honest. Movement phase goes first and the Crayfish will be in the pool and under the water by the time Missile or Melee attacks begin...

Rolls

Party Initiative roll - (1d6+2)

(2) + 2 = 4

Giant Crayfish Initiative roll - (1d6)

I don’t suppose a creature will follow a mage’s suggestion will they?
Jun 1, 2022 3:29 am
There is nothing more to be done. The creature is already at the water. And he was just an old man, his magicks already expended for the day. He continues forward with his lantern, but without that same energy as before.
Jun 1, 2022 3:33 am
Luban, knowing his employer is standinf beside him, makes one last ditch effort to rescue the dwarf. He lunges forward and takes to the air, hoping to land in (and then grab hold) of the crawfish.

OOC:
I would say a Suggestion probably wouldn’t have any effect on a creature with touch limited cognitive capabilities, as it says it’s effects work on a "person". I’d consider any humanoid creature a "person" but she’d probably have to speak it’s language as well.
OOC:
@cowleyc: Am I reading correctly that Luban is using his move, ent phase to try and jump in the pool after the crayfish?

Also, can you give me a set of grid coordinates Eltrezar’s moving to?
Jun 1, 2022 3:54 am
OOC:
Luban is indeed jumping in! He has one hand outstretched, and the other clutching a sword!

Eltrezar is moving to LL 59.

@KCC and @dominion451: I have movements from Luban and Eltrezar. Are Maloria, Ora, or Gilly moving this phase?

@cowleyc: The Crawdad is definitely going to submerge this round, but because Luban's land speed is signifigantly faster than the monster's, I'd say Luban will reach the crayfish before it goes under.

@All: I'm thinking that an ability check should be made to grab hold and hang on while the crayfish submerges. Probably Strength or Dexterity. Opinions?

Light-On-His-Feet Luban dashes forward, leaping like he was a stage dancer...

Rolls
