The landscape was full of machines and scrap metal connected to the facility in one way or another. Always present on the horizon were the colossal cooling towers of the Bona Reactor, with their green obstruction lights. If you put your ear to the ground, you could hear the heartbeat of the Loop – the purring of the Gravitron, the central piece of engineering magic that was the focus of the Loop’s experiments.
Tales from the Loop is a roleplaying based on the artworks of Simon Stålenhag and Free League's Year Zero Engine. The game takes place on the Swedish Målaren Islands, near Stockholm, in an alternative 1980s full of robots, strange technologies and mysteries. Your character will be a kid, aged between 10 and 15, trying to get to the bottom of a strange mystery involving one of their classmates...
I am planning to run the adventure The Recycled Boy from the TftL starter box:
What if your friend suddenly isn’t himself anymore? What if he accuses you of wanting to hurt him? And what if he disappears and strange things start to happen all around you?
This will be a shorter game, mostly focused around solving the mystery at hand. I am looking for three or four players who are interested in playing a group of Swedish '80s kids trying to solve a strange local mystery. I will be providing all the rules necessary so while access to the TftL rules would be helpful, it is not required to join this game. I prefer to take players who are not yet familiar with Tales from the Loop and it's sequel Things from the Flood, but having played either of them before doesn't disqualify you from this game, as long as you aren't familiar with this specific mystery yet.
I prefer a posting pace of 1/day, so while I will not rigorously enforce this, please do not apply if you do not believe that you can keep up with this pace for the duration of the game. The game should last around 3 months from beginning to conclusion and it will not lead into an ongoing campaign afterwards, just a nice little one-shot.
The game is explicitely friendly and open to minority and marginalized groups of any kind and I welcome and encourage both characters and players from any group.
One of the spots is already filled by @Jabes.plays.RPG, who actually kicked me into action on starting up this game now. I'm also reserving a space for @Adam if he wants to try it 😉.
In order to apply, simply reply to this thread or send me a private message. I would like to hear about your experience on Gamers Plane (or lack thereof) as well as with this system. As I said, no experience with either is required.
Even if you don't get into the game immediately, I would love to keep you in mind in case someone drops out along the way. This game will not be filled on a first come first serve basis. I will be looking at your replies to this thread and picking players that I think will make for a good group, prioritizing players who have few or no games on the site yet over GP behemoths like myself.
If you already have some character ideas, I would be happy to hear about those as well but if not, we can develop those together later on.
I'll be happy to hear from anyone interested!
