Sigma Madelline or Bust

"In the light of us finding no survivors, and the ship being in a threatened state, I wonder what our next move is? Should we scuttle the ship, sending it into a star or starting the self destruct, or tow/fly it to the research station? gentlemen, I do not know what our course of action should be. All I know is that I am worried..."

He listens to Bentom. He shrugs. "Maybe this ship is... lost, you know? Dead. Maybe we should move to the other two ships, find out if hte same thing happened there..."

He checks records on his personal data pad to ascertain distances between the ships, to figure out what the procedure would be to reach the next closest ship.
OOC:
Would it be a space walk, to the next? Or is a shuttle needed to ferry them?

Perhaps you're right. We may have found out all we could here. Let's hope the other ships fared better.

STS Tranquility

It's a fourteen hour burn on the STS Pegasus to get to the second science vessel.

"Let's go back to the Pegasus, then?" he says, glad to leave that strange ship, heading toward the airlock for the space walk back.

You get rest and recuperate your wits as the STS Pegasus makes the slow transit inbound to the lower orbit of the STS Ravana, trading potential energy for kinetic as it drops down the gravity well and gets closer to the primary star.

Fourteen hours later...

You're all ready for the next horror show, when Teller announces that you have begun rapid deceleration to match orbits with the second science vessel.

In the time that we travel, could I have tried to do any test on the dried blood? Looking for things such as chemicals or poisons that would not normally be there
OOC:
I do not like the description of "You're all ready for the next horror show" :P

With time, Bentom can do a full analysis of the blood. There is little to be found, however. He can genetically match the DNA in the blood to two separate missing crewmen of the STS Tranquility, but he finds no signs of unusual toxins or chemicals in the blood, other than what you might find on the floor of the bridge.

As they approach the science vessel, Deacon begins to run any scans that he can...8n the hopes of learning anything of value.

Would we have information about the crew of the other ships? would I know the captains name (as personnel officer, I imagine it will be in the files?). If so, I would offer it to Mr. Shaw to begin hailing their coms (or just do it myself)

STS Ravana
You have complete personnel and medical reports for all of the individuals on the STS Tranquility, STS Ravana, the cargo ship STS Rhapsody, and the Survey Outpost Sigma Madelline.

The hails go unanswered, although there is a carrier wave telling you that the STS Ravana is capable of receiving the communication.

"We're in scanning range now, sir."

Begin scans...look for obvious damage, docking ports, and signs of life.

You quickly discover that this one has some carbon scoring, too precise for regular pirates. The engine appears to have been targeted and cleanly incapacitated. The ship is cold, even the life support system is powered down, but a baseline of electronic activity indicates that it residual power is available.

Hmmm. This ship looks to be in even worse shape than the last one. Should we depart and explore, or burn all the way to Sigma Madelline and see what it's status is? I would feel horrible to leave anyone on this ship, but our mission was: Get as much info as you can, fix what you can, and when there is nothing left to do, come home and report."

"If you board it and enter your security override into the computer core, I can download the logs, sir."[/quote]

"No harm in a little data gathering, hey Doc? Especially if we can get it from the comfort of our ship... Instead of in person, on some ship infested by a crazed blade-wielding woman..." he adds, encouragingly
Aug 8, 2022 10:11 pm
Either way, downloading the security logs will help us out. So let's get what we can from here and then make plan to get us over there. Deacon says as they start to hash out ideas.
Aug 9, 2022 2:48 pm
"To download the logs we have to get on that ship. How about we dash over, download, and sprit back? I am just... uneasy."

Bentom will be sitting down, holding his hands to keep the others from seeing them shake. has been on ships most of his life. Until now, everything has been kind of boring. yes, there was excitement with the occasional hull breach, or even harassments from privateers, but no matter what happened, they always had a goal and clear objectives. Now, after all those years, to not know what is happening was a bit nerve wracking. He is committed to the mission and will do his best, but the lack of information is unnerving to his analytical mind

Is that the plan then, board the STS Ravana, unlock the computer core, then bug out?
Aug 11, 2022 7:26 am
"Oh I see," he says, his misunderstanding cleared, "OK, boarding it is, then... If we must..."
OOC:
good to get on board the Ravana
