Choices for New Game

Fair points, all! I think it will make for interesting RP. Knight of the Summer Court is what I'll build.

At any rate, we will not be able to build a Knight right away, to be chosen a knight must have some power on his own, and with only 1 refresh left, you would not be as good as a regular human.

What we can do is beginning with one of the power concepts, like Focused Practitionner or Apprentice (sorcerer and wizard), or a human finding an artefact that helps him get some power.

Then, when your characters will become more potent, the court will be able to offer you a place as Knight when the current one will be dead. (one retires from Knight of the Court only in death)

Giving it some thought and finally got a chance to look more thoroughly at character creation (this is my first Fate game, too, so much of this is new to me - thanks for your help and patience!) Here's my high concept - let me know if anything seems out of place. I like the idea of him being a highly proficient human that finds something magical, giving him power (to start).

Name: Avis McBride

Concept: my idea is for a Gunslinger Out of Time. Twin revolvers, skilled shot. Transported from (or frozen since) the 1800's - or doesn't age? I'm not sure about the reason why, but as above, maybe he stumbled upon something or someone he shouldn't have? Found an artifact that bound him to an entity? Dabbled with magic he didn't understand?

Trouble: He has a family (wife and little girl) he wants desperately to get back, somehow.

Any suggestions on a template that would fit well for this? I'm highly flexible with the idea :)

EDIT: I'm leaning towards Minor Talent for template, if you think that works well with the concept. Maybe one (or the set) of his guns is an 'item of power'

Question for all : For a sleuth I got as Trouble : They know you know

I was wandering what you understand this trouble is.

This is an interesting challenge, my common character creation method is to have a rough idea of the character, ready and then during play, figure out the later details. The Trouble is one of those things that I usually find through playing the character - like a D&D Lore Bard, who are in denial about certain facts about werecreatures (after she was bitten).

My understanding would be They (shadow organization, magical society, etc) know that your character knows they exist and are not pleased with that result so will do what they can do shut you down, discredit you, make life hard for you so that you will keep your mouth shut about Their existence. Sort of like Mulder in X-Files toward the middle seasons.

@C1NDER I could see Minor Talent working here. You might also consider Emissary of Power depending on who is behind the artifact that you uncovered. I definitely think the pair of guns could be an Item of Power, especially if they have to be in proximity to one another to function that provides a limitation that the GM can work with to compel (i.e. someone takes one of the two guns, you drop it off a cliff, etc.).

Personalty, I see the Templates only as help for creation no need to stick completely on a particular template, I just use them for inspiration.

So far 2 characters made it up to the Youth Aspect, let us continue creation.

Sorry I hit a RL snag and have been low energy. I am still here and working on the character.

Don't worry, if you have some problem or are tired in RL, it is not problem (also I'm very sorry for you) as long as I know someone will be late, there is no rush and no pressure.

What bother me is to have no news and waiting without knowing. So take your time, it is very ok.

Things have been chaotic this week emotionally and time-wise. I'll nail things through this weekend for sure.
