If I were to start a "game" were people could all come together to RP whenever they wanted, would you participate? If so, what would you like it about? Mutant academy? Fantasy? Wild west? Cyberpunk? Steampunk? Etc. Would you want to build the world as well as tell a story with the Gamer's Plane community? Tell me your thoughts.

That's an interesting idea. A strictly RP driven style game of sorts. I would love to see something like that happen.

Some of the best fun I've had on GP have been extended stretches of purely RP! It takes some pretty awesome roleplayers to pull that off though. Luckily, we have plenty of those in this community! :-)

it could be like a steampunk version of Cheers!

Like one giant game? I'm interested how would this work? Lol

The Tavern.

A place where people pop in and out. It would be great if you RP'd based on your favored system. So it's almost like a Diner at the end of the Universe sort of thing where you see people from the fantasy world mixing with Star Wars and Shadowrunners.

YES!!!

the barbarian walks in and everyone shouts "Crognar!"

It's actually sort of possible at this point since you could allow Character Sheets from any game into your game. Of course there would be almost no way to hash together all the rules so it would by default have to be only RP.

I can easily make a forum for just freeform RP, or we can create a game that doesn't take players, where it's forums allow anyone to post (I kinda like the second).

It would be helpful to have avatars for characters tho, to keep track of who's who.
Jun 23, 2016 3:40 pm
Yeah, could a game that doesn't take players also allow avatars to RP? It would be nice to have some sort of consistent character that comes and goes in the tavern.
Jun 23, 2016 3:44 pm
I mean, is it all just RP? is there going to be some plot? wouldn't it get confusing if huge numbers of people join in and posts get lost in the shuffle?

I think we are describing a chat room. Lol.

I could see too many people flooding the thread.
Jun 23, 2016 3:47 pm
yeah, if it gets too big, it would have to be a real time java environment or something

Ah, but its an "In Character" chat room. I think this idea is amazing! Avatars are a must though. And I think it should be a game, so that people can start new threads for side conversations and stuff. Oh, its gonna be some fun chaos in there!

I love the idea of characters leaving the tavern and coming back later to show off random things they acquired in their latest adventure.

Like there are super epic things happening, but we never see them, just the aftermath when they show up to the tavern.

but there actually isn't an adventure so we can make up the most outlandish things

"oh, Martin? yeah, we need to call him Mary now since he got a hold of that belt of gender change... poor guy"

I was thinking of making a "game" where there is like a 9999 player limit, use a custom character sheets for background, and even a section of character backgrounds if you would like if you would like other people to know more of your character. Maybe if say it was a modern day setting, have threads for different locations.

Example:

Thread- St. Charles Library

Jason Rutledge enters.

Looking around, he realizes Barbara isnt here.

Jason leaves.

Oh this sounds kinda amazing.

I'd love for a Tiefling Warlock to start getting all chummy with an Android bounty hunter or Ussuran sailor.

So many cross-setting shenanigans...
