Florence jumps at the sound of the item hitting Otto's head. "Oh dear!" she yelps. She looks him over from a distance and seeing clearly he's okay adds, "Do be careful, Mr. Schmidt, we wouldn't want more tragedy on our hands today."
She moves to the side of the bed and takes a look at the shoes. Remembering all manner of things she's found under beds when tenants leave, it dawns on her to look under the bed for anything of interest.

Perry flinches at the thunk of the jar on Otto's head, then again at the sound of it shattering. "I don't think the police will be happy with us," he mutters under his breath. Glad I didn't check the cabinets.
He glances under the armchair next to him; if there's nothing there, he'll go to examine the window, and see if maybe a murderer could have escaped that way.

Florence gets on her knees and looks under the bed. There doesn’t appear to be anything there but as she pulls the shoes, she finds a single key on a ring inside one of them. It appears to be the right size for the box.

Florence shakes her head and puts the items back in the box, locking it and placing it back on the shelf. "He had enough money to pay for this room for many more months. He wouldn't have had that on hand if he planned to take his life, would he?" she asks the others. She shakes her head in grief and takes a seat on the bed.
