Florence tries not to look at the blood but she notices the tarpaulin completely covers the expensive Oriental rug, protecting it from the blood.

"That's... Greek," Lang said as he studied the note.

Otto's frown deepens, until it seems like his face is only capable of frowning. "Is not Christian," he complains about whatever it was that the dead man was doing.

In an attempt to make himself unnoticed, Sam concentrates his attention to the night stand and the book shelf on his side of the room.

Lang translates the paper, reading it aloud.

Perry, you find your senses. I will take your spot hidden roll on where ever you want to look.

"Gentlemen," Florence asks, "Why the tarpouline? Look there, how it covers my rug completely, as if whoever left it down wanted to not leave a mess, like they were trying to be respectful. Except, why would a killer do that?" She passes a look around the room - "The door was locked, there are no signs anyone fought in here. I think...I think Mr. Gardiner did this to himself! And in an act of kindness spared me the cleanup by putting that tarpouline down. But why?"

"A ritual," Lang supposed coldly after he read the note, "for travel? For his soul? And no, Mr. Schmidt, definitely not Christian."

Lang sighed heavily.

"It might as well be a fancy suicide note."

Florence checks around the corner to the wardrobe. Seeing the wooden box, she pulls it out and looks it over.

"Suicide," Otto repeats, perhaps unnecessarily, in his German accent. Stepping over the corpse with distaste writ on his features, the big man heads for the overhead cabinets lining the east wall. Opening them, he snoops to see what they contain, one after another.

Florence pulls out the box and places it on the bed behind her. It's locked and no sign of the key. She notices the bed is made but there's a depression on the pillow and appears that someone lay down on top of the covers. A pair of slippers and a pair of brown shoes are under the end of the bed.

Perry slowly steps into the room, glancing around nervously. We sure started going through his things fast. The table on the right looks to be a desk, so he checks it for drawers; if it doesn't have any, he'll check what's on or in the other table as well.

He doesn't say anything, and tries to stay out of the others' way. Seeing Sam pick up the gun, he pats the left side of his suit jacket.

Hearing the translation and the conversations around, Sam starts to feel a little awkward about the situation. This is not at all what he expected when entering. Driven by curiosity, he opens the journal he just found and starts to look at the first few pages.

Perry looks at the table and finds piles of organised correspondance, an attractive wooden holder for paper, pens and some envelopes. A man's hat sits on the corner.

OOC:
Round again to Otto....
The German steps over to the cabinets that sit above a counter top and a new-looking hot plate.

As he opens the first, something falls out.
OOC:
Dodge roll please, Otto.

Not understanding much what he reads, Sam decides to take some time to make sense of it.
