Did we establish what time period we're using? I remember there being a poll about it, but can't seem to locate the forum where it was being discussed.
The year is 1999, with a little bit of luck we will see the moon explode !

For the skills, do not take into account what is on the sheets, you have 20 points of Skills to spend.
1pt = Average, 2pts = Fair, 3pts = Good, 4pts = Great.

The only thing is you must have at least as many skills of a lower level.

Example: 1 skill-Great, 2 skills-Good, 3 skills-Fair, 4 skills Average, is correct
3 skills Good, 3 skills-Fair, 2 skills-Average is not (average must have 3 skills)

Ok here is another question, a player wants his avatar, a human, to sleep during 100 years and search for his wife murderer.

Anyone has a good backup story for that ?
Jun 6, 2022 7:36 pm
I've presented several backup story ideas for this (and 'sleeping' was only one of several ideas presented for why he would be displaced in time - I also suggested magic, extra-dimensional confinement, etc.).

I have suggested that the killer be supernatural in origin and my character seeking vengeance against them in modern time, or the killer be non-supernatural and my character being fixated on returning to his own time to seek vengeance against them.

None of these ideas have been sufficient to allow the concept to go forward, so I please discourage anyone spending the energy to figure out my character's background on my behalf, as it has been clear to me that it wouldn't make for an interesting story.

I am currently working to build a completely different character that will work for the scope of our story.

So, as I put in the absence thread, my cat was needing to be put down. Fortunately, his energy levels have turned around solidly and doing so now is not needed thankfully.

However, taking care of him now as he recovers is taking up more spoons than I thought and I have not had the time or energy to really invest into making a concept that fits with this game. In the interest of not slowing others down and giving myself a break, I'm going to be withdrawing from the game. Thank you for your patience @Yullybear and I do apologize for the time spent so far. You all have a good game!

We can begin and let you enter when you'll be ready.

Hey everyone - I've given some thought over the last few days and have decided also to bow out of this game. I appreciate YullyBear for having me, but I'm finding this game to not be a great match for me and my current game-load. No hard feelings, I hope, and looking forward to playing with all of you in the future.

Fate (and dresen rpg) is a tough game to get off the ground, as there are so many pre-games steps.

Character creation has already taken a long time, and that is not a critique of YullyBear, its is just how this game is.

I'm ready to play with my wizard apprentice, even if it ends up being a solo game. I'm staying on!

Also still in on this one.

I am still here

Ok, sorry to see you go, I hope I was not to harsh on your concept.

Too bad, I had I will reopen the inscriptions, but we will not wait to begin.

Yep, working on something, apologies for the slow roll.

Hey all. I think I'm going to bow out of this one as well. No hard feelings. Hope you have a rad game. See you round the boards.
Jun 27, 2022 11:30 pm
Hey guys, I am going to have to drop as well. I don't have the gumption to keep going at this point. Thank you all for the experience. Take care.
Jun 28, 2022 10:44 am
Well I am beginning to think I am not doing this very well.

Only 2 players left.

Dresden is a hard game to get started. I remember session zero to be a full 4 hours games session when I played it IRL. In pbp terms that easily a month or more before you even get started playing the game. That is a long time to wait and plan for fun, but not having it. I'm in the Kids on brooms game, and that game is 3 weeks old now and waiting, and planning for the fun, but not having it. The game haven't started yet. It is tough to keep the momentum going when nothing is driving it except the anticipation.
Our game is 2 months old, and we just started playing. I think the lesson is that for pbp, it is better to start half baked than to wait for everything to be ready.

I'll properly write up a general forum post about my observations in this topic by the weekend.

To answer what to do now, I say, aks for more players. Have the player define their High concept, and trouble, and then join the game. Then doing the game the rest can be flushed out.
Jun 29, 2022 9:43 am
That's a good idea, I hope some players will be interested. In the meantime you can continue your investigation. If you are stuck tell me I may help with a hint or two.

Other than looking for someone who worked there wayback, there is not much to go on with the investigation. I'll gladly take a hint
