"Luck for the monkeys perhaps," Marcel says, snatching the playbill. "I would not want be the one to announce the law at the show. Our reputation as a serious force would be tarnished. But if we shot it down in advance we could not confiscate the instruments. A conundrum!"

When at the headquarters, Marcel places the violin on a sideboard table in their common room, and with a quill, leaves a parchment on top stating CONFISCATED ILLEGAL INSTRUMENTS.

Perhaps we should go to the Concert Hall at once, before the Concert begins and confiscate the instruments? Hopefully before the crowd is assembled.

"Excellent idea my friend! But it's also what I meant. Let us do it post haste!"

Pierre's disgust is forgotten replaced by a new enthusiasm to make the task easier for all of them.

You proceed to the Opera.
OOC:
Pell-mell, leisurely, dignified, hasty?

"Let us make haste, mes amis, for we race against the mistress of time returning to find her bed messed and her lover snoring. " He nods as if his point were obvious, and leads the way. He intends to walk, because why pay for a carriage?

Jean follows, walking in a good pace but dignified.

Pierre, lazy sod that he is takes up the rear, crinkling his eyes at Marcel's mistress comment while he tries to decipher what the silly man means.

Arm in arm or side by side, they head for the concert venue. "What do you think of this monkey business? Have you ever seen one of them play a violin?"
Jun 16, 2022 12:34 pm
It's early in the morning. The Opera is deserted, save for a pair of cleaners shoveling manure from the street into a cart pulled by a horse. Sisyphean, the horse relieves itself between the cartpoles. One of the cleaners: "Merde!" The other laughs sincerely.

They glance at you with concerned expressions as you survey the chained doors of the Opera.

"Monkey business. Haha, very good, very good. Mais non. I have never seen or heard a monkey play anything but a little drum."

Pierre glances at the cleaners as one of them curses. "Do not worry yourselves overly. There is nothing here for you to see. We have business inside that is not your business."

"An inspection, before the concert later today. Safety for one is safety for all." He brandishes his best smile.
Jun 17, 2022 12:41 am
The doors at the front are well-chained. As you together inspect them, you notice the scraping of shovels has paused. Whoever glances back, you see the cleaners leaning on their implements, watching you with expressions of mild interest.

Shall we open these locks, in the name of His Grace? Jean tries to tug on the locks and chains and see if they budge at all. Also bangs on the door with her fist.

"In his name, absolutement!"

Watching Jean tug at the chains, Pierre looks around for ideas. "Perhaps a window?"
Jun 17, 2022 12:27 pm
Marcel says, "Je m'excuse," and moves closer to the workers. "When will ze players arrive, do you know?"
Jun 17, 2022 2:14 pm
"Ah," says the cleaner, whose recently-laundered clothes are almost entirely free of grime. He wipes the back of his hand across his nose. "They start rehearsing for big shows right after breakfast. Maybe half an hour?"
Jun 17, 2022 3:16 pm
To Jean, Pierre says in a low voice, "We cannot wait. Let's find a window. Perhaps around the back where no one will see. If we are trés lucky, it might be open.

"Marcel! Allez-vous. Let's go!"

Pierre starts to amble casually around the building.
Jun 18, 2022 9:55 pm
Marcel runs a finger along his fine peacock feather, hitches his sword belt, and follows. "D'accord, let us proceed. One for all..."
