Got my Gods of the Fall sourcebook today (Cipher system). This is now on my #2 or #3 to read (need to finish my 7th Sea book). I liked the idea of the setting. Quoting from the back:

The gods are dead -- now it's your turn

There was a time when gods walked the world. Their magic pervaded the earth and the sky. From their mystical realm of Elanehtar, they brought plenty and pestilence. They judged the living and the dead. Their rule was absolute.

Then Elanehtar fell to earth like a vengeful star, sparking cataclysm and plunging the world into a dark age. The gods are gone, but their works remain -- scattered and broken. The world struggles under the yoke of murder, slavery and corruption. Dark things have squirmed free of their divine prisons, and even the afterlife has become a realm of nightmares.

But a power has awoken against the darkness. A divine spark struck in the hearts of new gods-in-the-making. You have this spark -- the seed of godhood within you. Can you restore what was broken before the world vanishes forever into darkness? Can you claim a place for yourself in the heavens?

This looks super cool and I'm definitely tempted to pick it up... But I already have to finish 7th Sea, Numenera, Exalted 3e, and Dungeon World... :/

...I have the same problem. I've also got Firefly RPG in the mix too.

Don't even get me started on Corebooks I need to read still. I need to brush up on End of the World and Star Wars because I will be running some games at GenCon. I also want to read all of 7th Sea. 13th Age. Monster of the Week. More Mouseguard. I still have like everything Pathfinder. I also want to pick up Warhammer 40k at some point.

That's not even all of them. #IHaveAProblem.

Which WH40K setting though? What about the supplements?

Well the GC situation they had asked about Dark Heresy. Though I wouldn't mind picking up Rogue Trader. Honestly there is so much lore with that though it would take me a while to get into any of them. From what I've heard the system is dense AF too.

Yub yub. I'm waiting for Into the Night I think it is called, the outer space Cypher System book. Still wanting to read Babylon 5 (d20) in more detail because I'm going to run that next IRL. I should probably learn Changeling: The Lost more completely since I'm running two games off it atm.

I was gonna say... there's a 40k book for each army! Though if people wanted to wargame, I did just buy Tabletop Simulator on Steam... You can also play on Vassal, though officially, GP frowns on that as it's illegal...

For Rogue Trader I have Lure of the Expanse and Dark Frontier, but like I said, haven't even started skimming the corebooks. I heard a one-shot of it which was great.

I poked around at Into the Night but decided I get my sci-fi fix from FFG Star Wars. I have a couple other interesting settings (like Mindjammer, Traveller, d6 Star Wars, d20 Star Wars, Firefly RPG) in sci-fi that I can turn to if I get a little tired of FFG, but I'm finding that FFG's structure and dice work well for me. I'll be curious if FFG take their system outside the Star Wars universe...

I enjoyed B5 on TV when it first came out... hadn't known there was an RPG of it. Somewhat piques my curiousity...

Love B5, as do most of my players. I bought the book used at the local gaming store and love the idea. FFG dice are do evocative, that I'm tempted to buy some and just add them to other games on the side.

Back on topic, I do quite like the idea of Gods of the Fall. It's pretty unique, me thinks. Many (non-supers) RPGs start players off as fair game for small cats, with an immense power curve to follow. Hell with that, let's start off as gods, woot woot!

I'm very interested in rogue trader, but the system scares the bejeezus out of me

I get way too much of that in real life. Hell, the only reason I play RPGs is to get a feel for how mortals make it through the day.

One of these days I will learn it and run it. I'll make sure you're on the guest list.

Do you like Firefly? Cthulu? Gothic Sci Fi World of WH40K? *gets ducktape and makes a system*

At least character progression is more linear than WFRP.

Ok. I've read Gods of the Fall and it sounds like a pretty fun time. I'm reading up on my Cypher system stuff now. I've half-played one game (here) that sadly fell apart, but I like a lot about the system and itching to get something rolling. Any other Gods of the Fall partakers? Mostly you just need to have some Cypher-system awareness. The setting and whatnot I can manage -- even better if you're highly ignorant of the specifics of the Fall, because, you know. You're not god-like.

Yet.

The source book has a few twists on the core Cypher system (foci, nudging of types, etc.) which are simple enough to share. So I imagine character creation would be straightforward.

Same. I am brewing my own hex crawl space adventure. I think to use Fate or Savage world system. To space and beyond!
