I'm looking to see if there is interest in a Dungeons and Dragons 5e game. I love Dungeons and Dragons and have always wanted to run a game in a different world - Aetaltis

The world needs heroes.
We live in a time when we’re surrounded by fantasies that tell us how terrible everything is going to turn out. They promise dystopian nightmares; a fight to even scrape by, and worlds where everyone you meet is in it for one person - themselves. In these worlds, hope is an illusion for fools and dreamers, and the future holds little, or no promise at all.
Aetaltis is not one of those worlds. Aetaltis is a place where, no matter how hard people get knocked down, they climb back up onto their feet and keep fighting. It’s a world where a person is more likely to stand up and battle beside you than stab you in the back. And it’s a world where a brighter future can be glimpsed, just over the horizon, if we can just fight on a little longer.
It’s not a safe world. Not everyone will make it, and the journey is going to get rough. But there are heroes that will stand up and fight to make the world a better place.
The world needs heroes.

And while I may not have the power to provide the heroes our world needs, what I can do is work with some of the most amazing authors I know to deliver stories that remind us that we can build a brighter future—and that we don’t have to do it alone.
So take up your sword, grab your spellbook, and mount your trusty steed. You’re about to travel to the world of Aetaltis, where heroes still walk the land, and hope remains alive.

A hero for Aetaltis is interesting. I was thinking a simple sword swinger and probably human. Someone distended for better things.

Humans, or the "atlan" as they call themselves, were once the leaders of the Alliance worlds. Today the descendants of those trapped on Aetaltis live scattered across the Amethyst Sea basin. They hail from a rich tapestry of cultures, from the idealistic Agthorians to the individualistic Selentheans to the arguably criminal Valorians.

Fighter Disciplined warriors who train endlessly to perfect their skills in the art of combat. Fighters are found among every lineage, culture, and back- ground. In a world as dangerous as Aetaltis, the ability to fight effectively may be the only thing that keeps one alive. Not every person has the discipline to become a true fight- er, but those who do are in high demand.

There are no rules differences between the fighter class described in the standard Fifth Edition rules and fighters in Aetaltis games.

I noticed this is actually a published setting I had not heard of before. Sadly the official webpage seems a bit scant on details. But I'm interested in joining. Could you tell me a bit about the unique races, particularly the pale alien-looking ones?

Edit: there's also mention of feline-featured barbarians that sound pretty cool. Can you tell a bit about those as well?

I would love to play either a thieving halfling divination wizard (probably an urchin background, or doing a 1-level dip into rogue), or a mountain dwarf sorcerer who was a sailor or a marine that tapped into some strange stormy magics during their voyages.

I would be interested in joining a group of people who take up arms together to push back the dark.

I've got a Goliath Cleric concept I would love to play if allowed but I am certainly not stuck on the concept if this world had some stricter race/class options.

I'm not familiar with the setting but I'd be pretty interested. I might try a ranger or something

A monk searching for enlightenment

A Rouge/fighter/barbarian who is not too sure as to what is "right" or "wrong" but desperately trying to do the. Good thing

A bard to record the tales of these heroes and inspire other people (re none of that seducing nonsense)

I am interested. Like others, I'm not familiar with the setting, but am interested. I'll probably play whatever the comparable orc race is in this world. I'm open to fill whatever class is "needed" by the party, but I would lean towards a cleric if we need a caster and a fighter or barbarian if we need muscle. I would like to know more about the setting before choosing a backstory, but can come up with a rough idea if you prefer.

Interested too. I've not played DND as a player, just as DM for Dragon of Icespire Peak and a bit into Curse of Strahd.

I'm not too attached to any character concept at the moment, have a few in mind but don't mind changing it to support the party better.

An elf paladin who fights evil by any means necessary.
A human druid drawn to bring nature into balance.
Dragonborn shadow sorcerer, not much thought on their background or character other than a desire to play that class.
