Chapter 6 - Knock Knock

"Not at all, my friend."

Nox takes one of the offered drinks. "You have my thanks." He eyes it for a minute and takes in the finer points of its presentation before taking a sip.

"Spicy indeed! Is this a Rodian blend or have you learned it during your journeys?"

Nox asks his question as they are touring the ship.

After AD-hoc makes his brief statement, Nox leans to Ken and asks quietly, "What does he mean when he says meditating? Is he trying to contact some sort of mystical 'force' that connects us to all life in the universe or something?"

OOC:
I also have ship info under AD-hoc's items

Click on Ken's sheet to see the ship specification. I think we did have a floor plan at one point.
Thanks, lots of good info there.

Glad to see the layout too. I hope that Nox gets at least a cot in storage lol.

AD-hoc joins them only long enough to say; "Welcome aboard. I do not drink, and tend to spend my time in the engine room, I guess you would call it 'meditating'. As I don't sleep either, there should be plenty of rooms available, although I believe etiquette dictates that you each only use one of them." then he leaves to go commune with the ship

Sipping his drink, Ken nods, 'Dagobah Vimlet, like a Slug Slinger but with more kick.' He knocks the rest of it back. 'Never been to Dagobah, wherever that is, but definitely something I've learned on my travels. No better place for intel than the local cantina.'
Jul 17, 2022 12:55 pm
"Doubling up on your Intel, no doubt. Nothing like getting good mission info and accomplishing some personal reconnaissance to boot." Nox's smile widens, "Ken, you're a pretty sly guy. I think this partnership is gonna work out real well."

While everyone is having a look around the ship, Pergano, the Xexto pilot, eases the ship out of the bay and begins setting up the Hyperspace jump. You're in the middle of settling in when you feel the subtle change in the vibrations of the deck plates, indicating you're in Hyperspace now.

Arriving on the outer edge of the Tarvio system, Pergano flies below the Orbital Plane, allowing you to see some of the asteroids that make up the immense belt. Pergano puts in the local coordinates of the 'site' you're to investigate and heads into the belt.

After about forty minutes you approach the site and Pergano brings the ship to a hover just above what appears to be a recessed landing area.

Peering out the windows of the Slippery Ghest, another drink in hand, Ken looks down at the site. 'What do you think's going on down there?' he asks. 'Any signs of weapons powering up or other countermeasures?'
Jul 22, 2022 3:44 am
"I certainly hope not" Nox says as he looks down on the landing area. "Those guns look like they mean business."
Jul 22, 2022 11:22 am
Pergano looks over the console as he hovers.

"Passive scans don't show much more that residual power, it could be deserted and dead or just on standby."
Jul 22, 2022 4:59 pm
As a precaution, AD-hoc will adjust all shields to forward.
Jul 22, 2022 9:38 pm
Meebo peers out a window, standing on the tips of his toes to do it. "Oo. Might be some good salvage in those guns," he says. "Wonder if they're assisted targeting or full auto-target."
Jul 22, 2022 10:01 pm
Pergano looks around at the faces peering out the windows. "Alright, no one said 'Run for it', so here goes."

He lowers the gear and then lowers the ship into the landing bay. You watch as the darkness suddenly envelopes you. You all know the science, but the sudden shift in light that the lack of atmosphere causes catches you by surprise. Pergano pauses and hit's the lights. As he finishes his decent, you're pretty sure this place has been here for a couple decades at most. The walls of the landing area have some minor pitting but are in much better shape than you were expecting for an abandoned facility.

Pergano kills the lights once you're on the surface. You can tell by the way the ship settled in, you're on a solid pad, but the gravity is just 'asteroid gravity'. If there is artificial gravity, it's been off for a bit.

"Ok guys, I'll go dark and watch the passives, in case someone tries to sneak up on us. You'll definitely need your suits to make it to the bay doors."
Jul 22, 2022 11:23 pm
"Alright, let's do this!" Nox is clearly excited to be seeing some action as he has a bounce to his step walking to the ship's off ramp.
Jul 23, 2022 1:46 am
Meebo follows Nox, then looks through the environmental suits to find the small one.
Jul 23, 2022 12:38 pm
Ken pulls the environment suit over his clothes and hooks his blaster onto the belt. He attaches the rebreather over his snout and pulls on his scanner goggles. He taps his comlink headset, 'You guys hearing me? Over.' Picking up the general purpose scanner he flicks it on, sweeping around the inside of the ship to confirm it's picking up movement and lifeforms. Once he's satisfied everything is working he slings a coil of rope over his shoulder. 'Ready to roll.'

Trying to keep control of his steps in the minimal gravity, Ken bounds down the ramp and takes up position at the base, using the ship as cover as he he scans the area, looking for any signs of trouble.
Jul 23, 2022 1:06 pm
Nox suits up as well. He carefully gets the environmental suit on over his gear and then shoulders his blaster. "Loud and clear, Ken. Over."

Nox slowly follows Ken down the ramp, blaster ready for surprises.

Instead of putting on a suit, Ad-hoc takes time to try and adjust to the lower light and lower gravity. "Message received Ken" he answers and head to exit the ship.
Jul 23, 2022 2:33 pm
"Hearing everybody a-ok," Meebo says. He follows the group out, blaster in hand.

The four of you bounce down the ramp. Reaching the surface, you confirm that there is a proper landing pad under about an inch of space dust. From the pad, you regain some of the perspective that viewing objects in space robs you from. This bay is big enough to hold 2 or possibly 3 freighters the size of the Ghest.
OOC:
Using the photo as reference.
The 'north' end of the bay has a set of double doors around 6 meters tall and probably 10 meters wide. Along the 'east' side of this 15-meter-deep landing area, just below the top of the bay, you see the slightly bulging windows of an observation or flight control deck. At ground level, also along the 'east' wall, you spot 5, evenly spaced and standard sized doors. Your initial impressions are the place appears in good shape, with no obvious damage.
