"Come." The voice of Vergil booms in each of your minds. "I have eagerly waited for you three to arrive."
Above him about 60 feet is his trusty companion, Crookshanks. He eyes the others that he sees in the distance. That little kobold doesn't seem that scary, but Dagen is a flighty kind of dragonborn. When he gets close, he tells Shanks, Keep your distance, and keep an eye out for danger.
He then says, "Hi, fellow. I am the fabled merchant Dagen Glytterglide. I see you have been summoned to this place, as well.
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
One, two, three, four Kex count creatures, he puts an arrow into his short-bow ready to shoot if anyone shows sign of aggression.
Ah, this is probably Vergil's pet spying on us Keks loos at the Crookshanks Just one arrow and wizard is blind....
He put bow away when hear others introducing.
I'm third of Vergil's summons and I believe we will indeed need to cooperate on his behalf. Nut sure how is that a pleasure, however. he say and still keep his distance. Dragonborn have a pleasure meeting Kobold? What would that mean? Is it a threat? Nevermind, he is summoned by Vergil and I will have to risk to join this company
He hate dunes for absence of a place to hide. As a Kobold he hates to be travelling during day-time, but he had no choice in the situation.
Name Keks, he adds incidentally and start walking toward the tower
"Your complexion is so beautiful! I love that color against that cloak you wear! When we finish this task, I can find a great piece that will complement your ensemble well!"
He puts his fingers to his mouth and does a chef’s kiss.
He also looks to the inspector and says, "And your color is such a…bland shade of red. But, no matter! I’ll find you a piece of jewelry that ought to draw more people your way! You will be a vision when I’m through with you."
He then takes a moment, and says, "As I mentioned, I am the famed jeweler Dagen Glytterglide, and as you can suppose, I help people look their best!
"What do you both excel in?"
I. Inspector Flame. Really just tries to enforce that which the court wishes. as he introduces himself some to Keks.
He further throws a thought out to see if any of the two know anything, This Vergil. Has either of you met him?
See that Keks is a touch defensive still, And you Keks. Do put that shortbow away. I much rather not discover this wizard's defenses.
Keks visibly relaxes and comes closer puting bow on the back. He looks at Crookshanks
He turns back to Flame and Dagen: What do YOU want from him? Kwoledge, money or magic?
"I thank you for coming to meet with me. Each of you bears certain skills and talents that make you suited to the task at hand. Ahh - but I have been rude." He bows and, as he reaches the bottom of his bow, turns his head up towards you. "I am Vergil. Please, we should enter my tower before we discuss business - better to be away from any potentially prying eyes and ears." He stands and, with a flick of his wrist, the door to his sandstone tower creaks inwards, revealing a room set with a table, four chairs, and a fireplace. "Take a seat - or stand, I do not mind." Vergil takes a seat at the head of the table.
Upon sight and meeting Virgel, Flame keeps quiet and moves in and takes a seat saying, "Are we all that you have summoned." to get matter clearer.
You just told us we 3 were carefully chosen for the job, so this is more than a delivery task and you know much much more about it. How much of your knowledge about the keep, the tome and the sources of your information is required to reduce our chances of failure? ... I mean - I guess you don't want us to fail! Do you?
Keks is looking at the wizard's reaction - who knows maybe this is all fake and wizard just want to sacrifice them in the keep over some dark ritual. In a moment he continues
You have the information and you are supposedly Keks try to replicate wizard's tongue when say last word
smarter than us. I trust you to be able to judge how much information we require, since you know our qualities, don't you?
Nevertheless. I never been in a keep. Could you describe a keep to me please? How big it the one we have to search? Do you possibly have a map of it? At least a map of similar keeps?
"I echo the questions and concerns of my fellows, Flame and Keks; without further details, this seems like a fools’ errand. And I don’t fancy myself a fool.
"I wish to know more about the tome itself. What is it, and for what do you seek it? Who is in possession of the tome currently? Are there any obstacles that we should be aware of in obtaining this book for you?
"Is it small enough to keep in a pack? Are there any rivals or creatures who guard or pursue this same tome that we should be prepared to contend with?"
"You are correct in assuming that this is more than a delivery. It is also a test. Do well and I’ll be sure to keep your names in mind for future jobs. As for knowing more, it is true that I have handpicked you all. Ones as sneaky as you two," He looks towards Keks and Dagen, "are useful in all situations. I’m certain that the magical aptitudes of Flame and Dagen will also come in handy. As for difficulties, I can not equip you with much information. The tome is of occult origins, and as such I would find it unsurprising if cultists and their ilk were to guard it, both physically and magically."
He pauses for a moment before snapping a finger and magically producing the image of a stronghold onto the table. "This, Keks, is what a keep looks like. Although the one you’re heading to is in disrepair."
He then looks towards Dagen. "Now for your questions. The keep is further into the desert. The tome is just that - an arcane manuscript that I desire for my research. The information I have used to track this tome places it at the keep when it had not yet fallen into ruin and thus I am unsure who or what would currently possess it, though my assumption would be cultists of some type. The tome should be small enough to keep in a pack.
"That’s seems doable.
"Now is the discussion of payment. What do you propose, sir? What’s this time worth to you?"
He smiles a large smile, and then says, "Let’s go with Mr. Flame’s suggestion, wizard Vergil. Thank you!"
Keks thinks I am able to collect the debt. .
I am good to go
"Good luck on your journey. Think about what rewards you may enjoy for your services while you’re out." He smiles.

They are approximately 100 feet away, in a dip between dunes. You stand at the top of a large dune overlooking the group of four but can make out no more information on who they are or what they have due to the clouds of dust. What do you do?
He sends Shanks forward, and then let’s his senses fade into those of his familiar.
Your quite sure that he really doesn't like being outside the city. He just survives elsewhere. Although he can see in the dark doesn't make him a fan of being underground either. He doesn't like the brightness of light. He is an indoors man.
He is in fact with papers an inspector. Claims to have done that for years. He doesn't talk much about that. He does have cards and dice with him and is an easy mark to game.
He always wearing his chain armor and favors his rapier which is fallowed up with handaxes. You know besides obviously being a warrior type that surprisingly that he can cast magic as well. He likes magic missile.
His skill is listed at the bottom of Dagen’s character sheet.

He also whispers to party I'm trying to win us time. Let Dagen inspect them. and hoping for Flame to play along he rises his unarmed hands and continue: Don't be afraid. We mean no trouble! No offence! Just want to pass by. What's your business here?
One steps forwards slightly and calls back up to Keks. "We are travelling on official business. That is all you need to know. Who are you three?"
The dragonborn all remove themselves from the obscuring dust cloud, revealing more clearly who they are. Their light packs seem to be filled quite heavily on their backs.
"We do not wish to delay you or worry you. We will be on our way.
"Thank you."
Dagen bows, and then heads in the direction they were in.
He whistled, and Shanks lands backwards on his shoulder.
He tells Shanks, Let me know if those fuckers try to attack us from behind.
This official bow officially state you should not get any closer to us and Keks start moving in a circle around the enemies keeping the same distance or even increasing gradually.
After a few more hours of travel, you arrive at your destination. Approximately 500 feet away from you stands the remains of an ancient stronghold. Sand blows about, periodically uncovering tiny fragments of strange buried items. The stronghold is built squarely, with some small cracks and breaks in the walls allowing for entrance. Also, the rotted remains of a wooden gate cover what once would have been the only entrance to the stronghold. Faint noises come from within the keep, though you do not see anyone outside or on the walls at first glance.
Would you want Shanks to enter the keep to do some scouting or just return?

Bonus Action: Close the door with the Mage Hand
Range/Area: 30ft.
Components: V, S
Duration: 1 minute
Source: PHB, pg. 256
A spectral, floating hand appears at a point you choose within range. The hand lasts for the duration or until you dismiss it as an action. The hand vanishes if it is ever more than 30 feet away from you or if you cast this spell again.
You can use your action to control the hand. You can use the hand to manipulate an object, open an unlocked door or container, stow or retrieve an item from an open container, or pour the contents out of a vial. You can move the hand up to 30 feet each time you use it.
The hand can't attack, activate magic items, or carry more than 10 pounds.

He moves to the wall, thinks of the space on the other side of the wall, above where his own head would be, and he manifests his owl familiar, Shanks.
He tells Shanks telepathically, Give ‘em hell, Shanks!
He urges Shanks to pester those right next to the door, and then to head to the main spell caster.
He then uses his bonus action to cause the mage hand to open the door quickly!
Action: cause Shanks to appear from his pocket dimension to the other side of the wall, and tells Shanks to pester the guys by the door first, and then the caster.
Bonus Action: use mage hand to open the door.
