What time of day is it now? What color is the Veil today? Does it ever shift and change? Is "reading the veil" (like checking the weather), a thing?
It's later in the afternoon. The evening wind is starting to come up, and bringing with it the rainbow mists that drift from the Veil. The Veil itself is gauzy grey, as usual. If the sunset is at the right angle, there will be a brief beauty of colors spread across the wall of mist, before night falls. Sometimes the Veil turns dark and even flickers with little lightnings, if there will be a thunderstorm soon.
Ciriaco says:
Quintus Quail raises and spreads his hands, palms upturned, ... The bearded man trails off. A thought tickles the back of his mind. They recovered two musical instruments at the scene, in two different places, but have brought back just one body. Was the man alone there?
"We found him as you see him, good people. By the side of a forest pool with a low waterfall, not far from here. May I ask, who was he? Does anyone here know when or why he departed from Limm, or in what company?"
The heavy-set man presses the heels of his hands to his face and begins to sob, his shoulders heaving. Two others of the workers lay hands on his shoulders, it seems as much to support their own shock as much as his grief. Nobody seems to be in a condition for answering questions. The time for those will come.
"We must have a funeral," says a taller and skinnier laborer firmly. "A pyre. Before ... you know."
It's said that those slain by creatures of the Veil sometimes rise again from their graves. For this reason, thorough cremation is employed for those who die suspiciously.
What do you do?
