Chapter 01 Happy Solstice!

Lanval instinctively tries to bat away the claw away with a circle block. Alas, his body is not as fast as his mind and the claw lands.

The gargoyle lands before him, the monstrous being coming in to try and rip the lightly armored man apart. Sun Li's eyes glow with psionic power as he stretches out his hand, nearby debris battering into the gargoyle to keep it at bay as it tried to power through the attack.

As the four gargoyles circle him, he watched them from below, through the shimmering clouds. His eyes narrowed. Two hands extended to one side as they began to lunge. His wing cloaked him like a bullfighter, and his whole body was cloaked in white curls of mist. A rumble sounded as the gargoyles rushed in...As the huge beast hunted for its target through the brilliant light, he swung wildly. The axe blade caught firm on an unyielding surface, a shield that looked carved from white marble with a swirling pattern, ringed in brilliant light. The impact was absorbed with the sound of a church bell being rattled by a thunderclap.

He had only a moment to bring up his manifested pole-ax, catching one of the gargoyles' weapons and pulling in, forcing it to overextend as he forced the gargoyles to break their formation circling him. He twirled the silvery polearm effortlessly as he backed up, weapon held high, peering over the edge of his shield, forcing them to try to force through the dense woods where they had encamped to reach him in disarray, or spend precious moments regrouping before he launched a counterattack...

Cass tries to ward off the axe blow with her sword and withstand the fire.

Lanval tucks himself into a ball just hoping to land at a good angle.

As the Gargoyle is knocked down, Sun Li focuses his mind into that of a blade. The purple haze that shows his telekinetic power comes together into a brilliantly bright blade of psionic power, as the mind melter leaps upon the gargoyle and aims to bring the blade down deep into his chest.

Sun Li goes to try and leap upon the creature and instead is caught by a backhand, the damage being eaten by his arm but its sheer force bruises the mind melter's ribs as he sent sailing back and hits the ground hard. Using the momentum, he rolls back up into a defensive position despite the pain in his sides.

Adatahl remained cautious despite the Gargoyles' clumsy attacks. Holding his shield high, he waited for an opening as he pushed through the melee.
