Fafnir gapes at the monster that Samuel's torch has illuminated. "Halor, the good news is this is definitely on par with dying in a volcano!" he calls out reassuringly as he adjusts his grip on his sword.

the distance is NEARBY. You can move to it on your turn or attack with ranged weapons from your current position.

Mauve quickly nocks an arrow but she's nervous. The shot will have to be perfect. Hitting Halor with an arrow would not be good, but the flickering torchlight casts shadows. Squinting, she lets the arrow fly aiming for the glistening teeth.

"What is this thing?!" Gonnar cries as he reaches the trunk -- or whatever it is that's trying to eat Halor.
His huge hammer comes up, then it streaks downward as he calls out a warning. "Get that leg free!" he shouts as he tries to pulp the creature.

Halor - my error, I missed the first STR test to break free of one of the vines. The second vine was still wrapped around your leg and pulled you into the jungle, so it does not impact the scene. You are after the creature in initiative, so the second STR test to break away from the vines comes after the bite.
I also realized that the test to avoid the bite should have been STR. Your roll was a 19, which is still above your STR of 11. The creature is able to bite you. Do you sacrifice an Armor Dice to avoid the damage?

The stump creature gnashes it's teeth around Halor's leg. The cleric sits up and tears at the vines, attempting to untangle himself.
Mauve releases an arrow, but pulls up at the last minute to avoid striking the trapped man. The arrow disappears into the darkness.
Gwyndion voice booms out a command in a strange language and the vines go limp. The tooth rimmed jaw of the stump creature relaxes and pull back from Halor's leg.Gonnar's hammer smashes into the side of the mound and connect with a dull *thunk*. The strike splits the side of the stump and shards of bark splinter in all directions. The creature emits a high pitched squeal and the two vines dart out to grab at Gonnar's arms.

Yes. Your Armor Value (AV) has been reduced to AV1. You can attempt to fix the broken AV during a rest.After a Rest, any Players with Broken Armour Dice can try to fix them by rolling them:

Fafnir! For a moment there I thought your lunacy would be the death of you, charging in like a madman, Mauve shouts as she too decides to charge in, red tangled hair bouncing behind her as she chooses her knife this time instead of the bow. There was too great a chance of hitting one of the men.
