OOC:
This sounds like one bizarre filtering machine. And a funny way to do a copyright. XD

I don't particularly have anything specific in mind for Conor - mostly just distracting him from the construction site, maybe flirt a bit to support the cover. Do you want me to play it out, RoAries, or should I just wait until Matsuki is out? I'm fine with both (although I can't write flirting to save my life).

Strange... Matsuki thinks. This doesn't look like any filter she has ever seen before. She makes a mental note to inquire about Dr Wu Kehui later.
She looks around the room and at the worker whether she can find the missing filter wafer. She also investigates the notes on the wafers. Maybe she can deduce which of the wafers is missing

XD I'm glad Matsuki isn't the one who possibly has to flirt as this is not my forté too :P
But I guess there probably isn't much more to see if there isn't a surprise filter wafer somewhere in the room

I guess we can skip the flirting rp. Though you can say you will attempt that. The characther's personal info and preference I allow you to make up. I have taken his name from the Irish list, so he is an irish-ish young man.
Matsuki looks around the room for anything that looks like those filters. She manages to still avoid waking up the worker, but her examination did not reveal any of the wafer-things. However, Matsuki now notices that the sleeping worker's name is "Ingo Schultz" from his name tag, and he have a tattoo on his arm, which is mostly covered by his uniform sleeves. The lower half of the image is that of lines converging into a knot at the base...
OOC:
If you want to search the worker, either to find if he has that piece of the filter, or what the tattoo fully looks like, you will make another Dex save. The filter piece could also not be here, and is in another room/place.

Oh, I'm absolutely saying that an attempt was made. :P Although considering that Wolf's most friendly attitude still often looks like he is trying to subtly threaten you, Conor better be into scary mercenaries.
I have to say, it would be interesting if something actually come out of it and Wolf got a little bit of a weak spot. I am not directly saying that it would be fun if the Visage Conversation Club kidnapped an Irishman, but...

I'll roll to feel how it goes.
Nikolai and Connor hit it off pretty well. Any trace of discomfort by the sudden inspector have faded. In fact, the air about Nikolai reminds him of a wolf. One that is not a frightening predator, but instead, is a fiercely loyal companion. And if there is any thing that Nikolai needs, Connor is willing to help within his abilities and risk.

While having the chat in the corner(or at the cafeteria), it seems that the club's leader's preaching have ended, and now the gathered members old and new start to make their way pass them. They seem to be heading to the direction of the north, where the base expansion sites are. That could be a coincidence, or maybe not...

Matsuki sighs slightly. She decides to leave the worker alone for now and to search the area for the filter wafer or at least any trace of it like packaging or installation instructions.
Jul 12, 2023 5:32 am
Matsuki finds nothing of the sort in the air filtering room. She takes a step outside and after a brief search, it doesn't reveal anything along the corridor or in the doorless rooms. The next option could be to open the door to search either the electrical room, or the utilities room with the graffitied message to "keep out". Or she can continue deeper into the construction site, and potentially exit into the unsheltered areas.

It's been quite a while since Wolf had any success in relationships. The kind of people who didn't mind his intimidating appearance or gruff demeanor usually weren't the same kind of people who were looking for stability, and so most of his dalliances were interesting, but ultimately meaningless one night stands. Actually chatting with someone over a cup of coffee was admittedly pretty nice, more so than he expected it to be.

...Not nice enough to completely distract him from his mission, however. As he notices in his peripheral vision that the cultists start moving out, he excuses himself for a moment - claiming he wants to go buy a can of soda from a vending machine, - and once out of the earshot, taps his communicator on. "Matsuki," he whispers into the device while operating the vending machine. "The skull followers are moving towards the construction site. You might want to leave before they get there, or hide and spy on them. Where do you want me?"

OOC:
Small hint. If you think you are about to face a fight or threat that is too much for a few Spacers, you could try to convince or pay people to help you as cannon fodder. But if the risking the lives of others is not your character's style, it is also fine to become a hero.
Jul 17, 2023 12:11 am
Crap! Matsuki whispers into her communicator. Can you hold them off for just a few minutes? Do a distraction? One of the filters is missing and I want to find it.
While she waits for an answer she sneaks to the utilities room and peers inside.
Jul 17, 2023 2:01 pm
Matsuki tries to open the door to the utilities room, but it seems to be locked. It is a regular door, not the ones intended to have electronic locks and card sensors the doors for the residential rooms seem to have. Matsuki have some tools to pick through the door's lock, so the question is is she ready to see what is inside?

"I can try." Wolf offers a laconic reply as the vending machine spits out his soda, and quickly makes his way back towards Connor. He doesn't sit back down, instead opting to lean in closer to the man, half in an attempt at being seductive and half so he can lower his voice. "I'm afraid my superior just called demanding results of the survey, so I have to go and bother some more people with pointless questions. But this was lovely, and I wouldn't mind a repeat outing, if you're free-" and I am alive, he adds in his head, "tomorrow. Call me, we can talk more about air filtration." Wolf winks, which doesn't come naturally but is hopefully nevertheless convincing, and after a brief hesitation adds: "And stay away from the conversation club, alright? Just trust me here."

After he says his goodbyes to Connor, Nikolai follows after the cultists into the corridors, waiting until they reach a slightly less populated area so that there is less risk of anyone interrupting, and then looks around for the closest electrical panel. He has no desire to cause a massive disruption on the station, but simply sabotaging doors and lights locally can go a long way...
OOC:
Is this a viable plan, to mess with the electrics in a small section? Maybe overload it so everything fries and the cultists get stuck behind automatic doors or something?
Jul 18, 2023 4:51 am
OOC:
Yes, I'll allow you to do that. However, would he try his luck to lock down specifically the path the cultists may take towards the construction site, or would he try to lock down an area to be more sure the group is blocked, but risk disrupting some services?
Jul 18, 2023 6:55 am
OOC:
That depends on whether one of the two is easier to do. I don't think Nikolai is in the best of conditions even after the rest (6 Dex, ahem), so he'd probably try to do something he has more confidence in successfully achieving. In other words, if I can do something without a roll or with advantage, it's the preference. XD

If mechanically it's the same, then he would try to avoid disrupting the services and just derail the cultists for a bit.

OOC:
I'll not make it be a saving roll. I'll do d6 luck roll to decide the level of the outcome for both actions.
RoAries sent a note to RoAries
As the lights in the corridor are shut off, shouts of surprise and confusion can be heard. Nikolai can't immediately tell how effective he is, but the sounds of yelling can be a good indication.

"Mister Petrov!"

"Sir, are you here? He is still with us!"

"What is going on?"

"Must be a short circuit."

"Quick, either solve it or find us another path."

"I have a torchlight!"

"Hey, I think Nickson made it to the other side of the door."

Nikolai's tampered electrical panel is at a unseen angle from the position of where the cult group is. He will have a brief moment to decide on what to do before someone makes their way to him. Also, no-one was immediately around to witness what Nikolai did.

Matsuki hopes that Wolf is able to hold off the cultists long enough for her to explore the utilities room. She pulls out her tools and starts fiddling with the lock.
Trusting on you Wolf. Hope you have some smart idea she mutters to herself while droplets of sweat begin to appear on her forehead while she works on the lock
OOC:
Any roll required?

Wolf grins as the darkness descends and with a quiet whishing sound unsheathes his claws. Yes, he is about to cause illegal property damage he'll probably have to fix later himself, but in its own way the small act of vandalism delights him, reminding Nikolai of his mercenary days. As the cultists murmur in confusion, he uses this time to strike right at the panel, the metal blades - isolated from his own skin, he's not that careless, - sinking through it like butter. If the cultists want to fix it now, they'll need to do more than just flip a couple switches. After all, he can't say for sure that there aren't any electricians among the club, so it's better to be sure.

His mission successful, Wolf then quickly backs away from the ruined panel and into the closest branching corridor, his coat helping him to merge with the shadows. He doesn't want to leave too far away, in case the cultists deal with the situation faster than expected... And if needed, he can always repeat his earlier performance as an inspector. The best way to cover a sabotage? Pretend that you're here to fix it.

Matsuki
OOC:
I'll say this lock is very simple so no risk to require rolling.
The door squeaks open. What Matsuki saw first is the red painted circle on the ground. Scribblings that look like words surround this circle. Words that strangely irritate the eyes to look at.
"... make connection to Watchers that live in Web of Balloons tied to the whispering shadows and the preparation of mankind's invitation to the Black Party..."

Other than the nonsense on the floor, the room seems to have shelves and lockers along the walls, with images of balloons randomly drawn about. There is the 1st and second lockers locked, while the 3rd is open and empty. The shelves are mainly bare, except for what looks like a red paint bucket and brush, and a notebook.
OOC:
Attempting to pick the locker locks will require a roll now as the tools could become broken with use on it.

Nikolai

The electrician mercenary hides away into another corridor that has its lights shut off too. The beam of light from a cultist's torchlight soon crept its way over to the electrical panel, it's revealed state of being shredded causing further confusion and alarm.

"How did this happen?"

"Damn it! This must be a sabotage by one of our enemies!"

"You think it is one of Samantha's helpers?"

"That bitch is probably a few steps ahead of us. We need to skip our club initiation."

"We are not joining your group today?"

"No, you six to need wait first. We have an emergency to solve."

Nikolai will see a group of 4 men and two women walking away in the dark towards the cafeteria that is still lit up. They notice him. Then the aged leader Petrov and three of his bodyguards can be seen alone with the electrical panel. One of the bodyguards he now notice is actually Sabe Ruth, his creepy electrician colleague.

Matsuki Looks around. She's somehow reminded to her trip to the ruins. An uneasy feeling spreads in her stomach. She wants to sit down but no.... There's no time to ponder. She doesn't know how long Wolf can hold off the cultists. She has to act quickly
She snatches the notebook and puts it in her pocket. She'll read it later.
Then she goes to work opening the lockers, starting with the first one
