This is a place to talk about coteries and individual kindred concepts.

Some things we need to decide are listed below:

1. Age and generation--let's keep the same generation.
2. Sect--roughly, this can evolve during play.
3. Type of Coterie
4. Chronicle Tenents

Squad, at this point do you have any preference or thoughts on the other questions? They are taken directly from the Core Book (if anyone is unsure).

I'm open to any type of coterie play.

Initial thoughts I was going to lean in to for world building is that the Prince of San Fran has recently left via the Beckoning leaving the city in some turmoil. If the troupe is directly involved in all that or just sees it from the sidelines is up to you all though!

As far as age and generation go...I'd say let's have a little age on our characters. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for playing a fledgling vampire, but depending on what type of coterie we create, a bit of age would work best.

As foe Sects...I'm open to any of them. Each will work equally well.

As for the coterie itself...I'd say stay away from the ones that would have us traveling a lot. I'd honestly wait until we get a general idea of the characters first. Yet if the elders left then perhaps they tossed us the proverbial keys to the city and said keep an eye on things.

Now as for the Tenents, that one I'll have to read up on before I'll decide.

ooOOoo, could be Regency type...

As for age, I'm down for whatever you all think, and yeah maybe character concepts will point in that direction. Just remember Ancillae are as old as we can go in v5.

I'm also 100% in mixed generation and age coterie, especially considering the aim of a more narrative approach. That's up to you all!

I have read some about the coterie and generation things but I don’t feel comfortable enough with the rules to say. I only got the rule book today. Very excited though. My first vampire game!

I strongly recommend taking a look at the video I posted and rolling a character with her. She's super thorough and cuts out a lot of the filler.

For generation all you really need to know is if you think it'd be cool to interact with. Check out page 140. As others have said, thinking of your mortal life and embrace can really answer the question for you!

I definitely don't see my character as a Childer or Fledgling. So he'll definitely have a bit of age on hum. Yet, he won't be the oldest category either. After all with great power, comes great responsibility...besides who would leave a Gangrel in charge. ;)

I'm thinking of possibly a Neonate.

I'm leaning towards an American soldier from WW2. It's a toss up of if he was bit overseas and made his way home or if he was bit here stateside.

I think those sheets are great! I encourage folks to use the sheets that work best for them. If using pdf I'm sure we could post them in the Gamers Planes | Wold of Darkness discord channel.

Per page 151
"Build your coterie Every player now gets one Coterie dots... Working together, the players spend these dots and any leftover Advantage dots from previous stages building their coterie." My emphasis.

Your Coterie points are coming for free, but if you wanted to set aside some of your 7 Advantage dots, you could. But of course you don't have to!

Mechanically it looks good to me, though my eye is not terribly experienced here :D

Narratively I love it!

Do David and Alexa understand what is going on; being that she still appears 22 and I'd assume they are all in their late fifties?

Is the beauty she surrounds herself with the skilled and athletic gymnasts?

Are you O.K. conflict that could arise from other Kindred fearing her public desire to perform could put the Masquerade at risk?

Very nice stuff here.

Thank you. The video was very helpful!

I think it is that Davide knows but hates it and lives far away. Alexa doesn’t because they only speak via email or on the phone so they have not seen each other in person in many years but stayed close.

I think the beauty is in graceful movements and precision. So this or dance or something like that.

I am ok with conflict unless it would be a problem for others.

I hope not; given that our mission here is finding conflict to generate stories! I just want to make sure it's one you're O.K. with that's personal to your character :)

You will still want to submit a GamersPlane.com character sheet that at least has an image for your character so you can "Post" as them.

Dunko - as ST do you have a preference for "balance" within the coterie? ie do you want all players to be different clans and types of feeders? Or is some similarity and overlap OK? 😊

I'm open to mixes of everything--Clan, feeding style, even generation and ages. Overlap is also fine with me as long as you are all cool with it. I intended to really, and I mean really, lean into the more free-from narrative style that v5 offers (it feels a lot like Cortex to me). So whatever makes a good story I'm so cool with!

Yes, this is the style you feed, and it can also have narrative (mechanical) implications. But I believe you can change it up. I think it's more of a narrative guide(?). Your Kindred has reason to feed in particular ways.

A lot of Stain and it's resulting depression, emotional states, and loss of humanity will tie into the taboos, etc. set in the Chronicle Tenets we need to come up with--they are what you play against to push your character into "dark" narrative; their the roadmap of what to "play against", the boundaries to push . See page 172

We can go with one of the suggested for now, for ease.

Since I'm working my Gangrel to be the muscle, the Alpha Predator...etc, Alley Cat would fit him best. That's not to say he's against seducing his prey, he just prefers the chase.

Just checking in to see if anyone needs any thing or has any questions, thoughts or concerns!

I know the VtM books can be dense, and this one is no exception, but I'd not worry too much about anything beyond character creation and the Test & Contests.

Play by post is a nice relaxed environment for learning the system on the fly IMO.

Once we have a few vampires we can get rolling, and anyone still working on one can jump in when they are done--we'd definitely not require "the party to stick together" in this one.

For ease of decision making, I'm throwing the Chronicle Tenets suggestions up here:

[ +- ] 2. Creed of Justice
[ +- ] 3. Gothic/Romantic
[ +- ] 4. Street Code
I think we could even start without the Tenets, and perhaps adopt one that fits the emerging gameplay.

I think same, really with the Coterie type--it's fully possible to start without picking one; it just gets folks on the same page with same buy-in.

We could always roll some dice to see what comes up, even.

I'm a firm believer in developing characters as we go, so if folks are still around I hope no one is overthinking!

It looks like Erik and Giulia are both pretty old, chronologically; she's about 60, he must be pushing 100 if he was in WWII? My character concept will be a lot chronologically younger than them, but I can tweak his concept to have him diablerised himself to a comparable generation and level of power for chargen purposes.

2. Sect--roughly, this can evolve during play.
I'm leaning towards Anarch or at unofficially Autarkis.

3. Type of Coterie
Regency could be very interesting, or perhaps Champions, Questari or Watchmen if we could create a purpose that unites such disparate characters.

4. Chronicle Tenets
I like to default to Humanist.

Remember you can still be same generation but more recently embraced 😄!

We didn't discuss coterie type other than to say one that wouldn't see us traveling a lot. We were gonna feel it out a bit after character ideas were clearer. We can even "play in to" one.

Also Dirigible, character accepted!

Humanist is also a good Tenet.
