Pluck roll... 17!
By this time, Trusova was fed up with the unnatural goings-on in this tower. So, when she saw her friend and ally being dragged up the wall (never a good sign), she didn't waste time with gasps and goosebumps; she just went straight to slashing at the grasping, waxy arms, aiming to lacerate veins and tendons and sap their strength.

Rolls

For pluck's sake - (2d6+10)

Do you feel plucky, plunk?
Piss runs down Lambert’s leg, and then drips plinking to the watery floor from the toe of his boot.

Pluck - (1d20+7)

(16) + 7 = 23

And by that I mean… - (2d6+7)

(61) + 7 = 14

As the whizzing thief is being pulled up the stone wall, towards the dark and reeking murder-hole that the degenerate elf-beast had half-emerged from, Trusova comes forward to aid her companion. She strikes with her spear at the long and twisting limbs that are hauling Wolke away, and the edge of her weapon slices ripe, black flesh and draws a few sparks from the stone wall beneath. The monster flinches and chitters, clicking and growling at the injury, but the warden notes that no blood spills from the wound. There are gelatinous chunks of putrefied flesh and squirming grave worms that spill from the broad laceration... but no blood.

In reaction, the fiend retreats back into its hole faster, bracing itself with what look like another pair of horrific arms on the edges of the crevice.
OOC:
Banio and Lambert can still both act.

Correcting my post above, as Trusova won the exchange and dealt 6 points of damage! Minus the thing's Armor rating.

Trusova takes some damage here as she lost the exchange. It’s unclear if that limb came from a second, or the same, creature.

Rolls

The Thing from the Crevice Fights Back (-2 for hauling Wolke) - (1d20+9-2)

(8) + 7 = 15

Feeling his legs warm and wetten, Lambert grabs for his blade. Wet, bloody fingers cling to the handle, as he desperately tries stabbing at the thing.

Rolls

Small Blade 8+5 - (1d20+13)

(10) + 13 = 23

Damage - (1d6+1)

(3) + 1 = 4

Lambert's short blade nicks and slices as well, gouging flesh and tracing horrific lines all over the thing's arms. Jellied flesh and blind, wriggling worms rain down, but still, the thing drags him...

Rolls

The Thing From The Crevice Fights Back vs. Wolke - (1d20+9)

(8) + 9 = 17

Doubting that Banio can reach the thing to help, Lambert starts to shout!

"Grab my leg! Grab my pissin’ leg, man!"
Mar 23, 2023 12:10 am
Grab Lambert's pissing leg?

Banio would much rather grab the other one!

Unfortunately, the way Wolke is flailing makes it hard to tell which is which. And so Banio Phelbt dives in and grasps the limb that most readily presents itself. He wraps his little arms around the other man's calf and hauls down with every ounce of his admittedly diminutive strength.

Rolls

Luck Test to Avoid Piss - (1d20+9)

(20) + 9 = 29

Mar 23, 2023 3:12 am
Now hanging onto one of Wolke’s legs, Banio finds himself pulled from the floor as the yowling adventurer goes scraping up the wall, a few inches at a time. Above, the thing has retreated fully inside its hole — except for the spindly limbs and powerful hands that still have Lambert seized.
OOC:
Opposed check here (note that only melee attack get +5 if you’re initiating an attack)… roll Athletics or Endurance, Lambert! If you fail, into the hole you’ll go…

Banio, test Luck to have grabbed the less urine-soaked leg. Remember this will cost you a point of luck. You can choose to fail, and keep the point of luck. The critter has a -2 on its check from the extra weight.

Rolls

Opposed Check: Endurance vs. Athletics or Endurance - (1d20+6-2)

(9) + 4 = 13

Mar 23, 2023 3:16 am
Trusova knows not what kind of creature bleeds worms when it is cut, but she doesnt dwell on it. The spear hurt it was what mattered, and if she gives it enough grief, she expects it will disengage, or even better, die.

Rolls

Attack! - (1d20+13, 2d6+1)

The clicking, multi-armed / legged monstrosity does its best to disappear back into its ghastly hole, and to take Wolke with it -- but the man's struggling and Banio's added weight prevents the beast from succeeding, and even from escaping the reach of Trusova's spear. But as the steel point of the weapon plunges towards its target, a clawed hand grabs it. It's difficult to say where that limb orignates from, but it is strong. The woman keeps her grip when one violent jerk nearly tears her weapon from her grasp, but then the terror hisses and screeches in a way they haven't heard before, determined to disarm her!
OOC:
Trusova, the monster defended successfully. And rather than striking back at you, it's trying to disarm you. You can just release the spear and suffer no ill effect here... or you can fight it and try to win a contest (I'd allow Endurance, Athletics, or Melee) that would allow you to maintain possession of the spear. If you fail, you'll suffer (a lesser amount of) damage, and also be disarmed.

After this split second, Banio and Wolke are up in whatever order they want. I should note that Wolke won his contest, so is still dangling halfway up the wall, with Banio on one of his legs.

Rolls

The Thing from the Crevice Fights Back Against Trusova (-2 for hauling Wolke and Banio) - (1d20+9-2)

Feeling that he might almost be free, Lambert starts to madly stab at the things claw and wrist, intent on having it loosen its grasp!

"Come on, you shitting thing!" he grunts as he stabs!

Rolls

1d20+8

(13) + 8 = 21

1d6+1

(2) + 1 = 3

Trusova feels the strong claw wrench at her spear. If she was a big, strong man, she might feel the need to oppose it, to dominate it. But the fact it had occupied itself with her spear, which was going to be out of range at this rate anyway, was a tactical win for her.

Rather than waste energy on grappling for the spear, she releases it, drops to a crouch, and unslings her crossbow. She puts one bolt between her teeth as she tries to load the other.
Mar 26, 2023 5:00 am
Wolke's blade finds a knuckle and gashes it, making the thing dragging him up the wall scream again, but he can tell that it's going to be a tall order to take this thing down with so small a weapon.
OOC:
Wolke, you get your +5 for being the aggressor as well, and soundly defeat the critter 26 to 14. Damage, though, is reduced to 1.

Trusova -- test Luck to see what happens to your speed. Pass -- it's just flung to the floor. Fail, it's going to be damaged or even broken in two. (There will be a d6 roll.) You can of course accept failure and keep your Luck point...

Banio clings to Lambert's dry leg. As he dangles in the air, Phelbt kicks out his little feet like a fussy toddler at supper, trying to dislodge-- or at least to weaken-- the creature's grip. He will not let this fiend drag Lambert Wolke into its murder hole!

At least until it seems like the fiend might drag in Banio himself as well!
OOC:
Edited to add: Banio's Endurance is a big ol' 4, so with the -2 modifier, he'll be rolling 1d20+2 here...

Trusova's spear clatters to the ground nearby as she readies her crossbow, cocking the weapon as Banio fights for all he's worth, trying to pull Wolke from the creature's terrible grip. He has little leverage, but he thrashes and fights!
OOC:
Opposed Skill Check -- please roll Endurance at -2 (for dangling and not having leverage), Banio. (No +5 as this isn't an attack.)

Rolls

Thing from the Wall Tries to Hold Onto Lambert - (1d20+9)

(7) + 9 = 16

Cloth shreds as Banio's effort and his additional weight pulls Wolke from the retreating horror's long, filthy, grasping hands. The grave-beast shrieks shrilly as it loses hold and both men slide suddenly down the wall, tumbling onto the ground into a heap.

Without the sacrifice it's been trying to pull into its lair, the degenerate spider-elf slips back into its hole... but it immediately emerges again with its jaws wide and fangs bared. It is more exposed than before as it rushes part-way down the wall, then uses one of its long, clawed forelimbs to rake its intended prey...
OOC:
Okay, Banio has pulled Wolke free!

Banio and Wolke, both please make Athletics checks at +2 to keep your feet and land uninjured on the ground. If you fail, you'll be prone (requires your movement to stand up) and will suffer 1d3 Stamina damage that won't be mitigated by armor.

Top of round three, the now angry creature acts again, swiping at Banio. Phelbt, you'll want to fight back against the critter's attack (26)... failing will mean taking 7 damage to Stamina.
