All people are descendants from the Animals Fenhari, even yours. The Coyote likes to play tricks, which may include changing shapes and it wouldn't surprise me if some Choitll still had this knowledge.

about the brown one, That one is called Etcchupil and the other is Milpa,
in common language Etcchupil means Friend and Milpa is the name of the light golden grass.

But they will respond to any name you would like to give them, as long as they know that you are issuing a command.

And what about the girl? Will she ride with one of you?

At the mention of shape changers Rook makes a sign with his hands to ward off evil. 'Shifters and devils and piskies... Just plain unnatural.' Rook glances at the boy? Girl? (hard to tell). They hadn't talked about the tot joining them and it made no sense to the man why they'd bring a child into harms way. Rook tried to ask Fenhari about the tyke but was interrupted. He looks directly at Riley/Sophia. 'What's a kiddiewink like you wantin' to come on this business for? We could all get hurt or mebbe put in the dead book out there. It ain't no place for you.'

Are you saying this openly, or are you taking Sophia/Riley aside to speak to her? She would behave differently depending on the situation.

Rook looks down at the child and slowly blinks. You can almost hear the rusty gears turning in his head- and then he nods and smiles. 'Shoulda had a schoolhouse in this damn town a long time ago. Crumbsnatchers is all batshit...' The fighter turns toward the companions. 'Guess we're headin out.'

Hadwin opens the gate to release horse and rider from the stables. Maya offers to assist anyone who might need help mounting their horse.

OOC:

Let's see some Animal Handling Rolls, easy DC of 10. If you pass, the animal is under your control. If you fail, they are not. pass or fail, you narrate what happens.
Sophia gets a +2 as a passenger. Anyone can get an additional +2 if they accept Maya's help.

Fenhari whispers into the horse's ear as he mounts the palamino. "We're in this together. Trust me. I trust you." He doesn't ask for help in case any locals are watching.

The horse's nostrils flare and he shakes his head, whinnying fiercely and backing away. The ranger holds the reins and tries to calm the horse. "What? What is it?" Easy. Easy."

Could it be the smell of Fenhari's hat that is making the horse skittish?

Rook gets up from the pile of hay and manure he fell into. Dusting himself off as best as he could he turns to Maya.
'Apologies, Ma'am. I'd be obliged for a helping hand.' Turning a very bright shade of embarassed, Rook accepts the help that Maya gives.

The Horse just will not have it. It actively tries to prevent Rook from mounting it. Bucking and rearing- it refuses to calm down enough to let the fighter mount. 'Uhm- maybe it can tell I et horse in a less than proud moment in my life. Mebbe I'm better suited to a mule?' Rook scratches his head.

Rook has zero issue being a passenger if that is what the dice say- or lookin elsewhere for a mount (or walking). Most importantly whatever will progress the story.
