I'm scared to roll now. :-)
"If you can help the little girl," Fenhari tells the bleary-eyed man, "I'll buy you a drink for the road."

Rolls

Persuasion - (1d20-1)

(9) - 1 = 8

OOC:
Your apprehension was well placed it seems! The GP dice gods are stingy in this thread. Hopefully not a sign of the rest of the game to come.

Junior appears to be unarmed.

He takes a good long stare at "Riley's" face while Fenhari is speaking "You want me to help this .... he takes a pause to scrutinize, little girl?
but then at the offer of another drink
shhhhhure ... I could probably use one more for the road. We ain't leaving till sundown anyhow....

sooooo lemme sheee. Yeah, me and Roy was headed out to the Rat hut and we saw shomebody goin up that new Frederick Road. had to be .... i dunno a thousand country miles away. It's hard to know, that's what they call some of the "desert magic," sometimes you can see farther than a coyote's howl...

He trails off. and then shakes his head as if clearing the fog.

Wait yeah, we seen him, on that horse, that black horse. I mean, I think it was black, I dunno it wassh dark...

he leans in towards Fenhari and whispers conspiratorialy, Now, how about that drink?

I'm gonna ring your bell!

Meanwhile back at the camp, The third man leaps at Xur'Tual swinging a hammer.

(9) + 2 = 11

hammer damage - (1d4)

(2) = 2

I'll get the ugly fella Roy Boy!

Clayton III keeps his sword in hand, but goes for a belly tackle on Rook.

Rolls

OOC:
looks like it's a miss for Roy, Rook is able to avoid an attack from Clayton, but he has to beat a strength check with either strength or acrobatics to avoid being grappled.
The ground is rough with grass, and volcanic rock pokes out of it here and there. There is an ashy campfire to your left. The ground is littered with small tools and trash. The three donkeys under the tree ahead of you are beginning to bray and kick as the energy around the camp has become violent. The hot and dusty wind picks up, waving the flap of the massive tent to your right. You are blocked from view to The Waterin' Hole but the sound of Clayton Sr's voice is carried on the wind and anyone outdoors could her him yell.

OOC:
If The Waterin' Hole Posse chooses to move towards the camp, it's going to take them two rounds to get to the tent (unless they run.) The fight is happening on the other side of the tent, so if you approach it directly, you can't see anything that's happening at the moment.

Xur'Tual bats the hammer away and counter strikes with an overhead swing.

(16) + 5 = 21

Greatsword damage - (2d6+3)

(13) + 3 = 7

OOC:
If the DM allows it, I would like to use my reaction to strike Roy as he gets within my reach per the 'Polearm Master' feat. A swing, and a miss in any case.
'My mamma told me I was a beaut!" Rook growls as he attempts to avoid being grappled by one of the Claytons.

Rolls

Glaive to hit - (1d20+5)

(2) + 5 = 7

Glaive damage - (1d10+3)

(3) + 3 = 6

Athletics - (1d20+5)

(18) + 5 = 23

Oct 21, 2022 6:19 pm
OOC:
Yes, Rook, you can do that, but it looks like a miss anyways. You do avoid the grapple and you still have your regular turn.
Oct 21, 2022 6:25 pm
"You've earned this, pardner. Enjoy. Thanks." Fenhari flips a gold coin to Junior, then turns to Riley. "Maybe my friends found the man. Follow me." Fenhari runs toward the sound of the fighting.
OOC:
I took 1 gp off of Fenhari's character sheet.

Rook will take a swing at Clayton III and then attempt to crack him across the dome with the butt of his glaive (bonus action, Polearm Master). 'Stay still kid, this is for your own good.'

OOC:
You guys both connect. Clayton III is within inches from death. you can describe your hits if you like.

Riley and Fenhari arrive at the tent. If they decide to go around the tent, they can arrive after The Claytons take their next turn.
Oct 21, 2022 7:14 pm
OOC:
Rook will start his swing low and strike upward, catching Clayton III from groin to chest. He will continue the momentum of his swing and bring the butt of the glaive up to strike the bottom of the mans jaw.
'Throw the towel in, son... You're done for.' the fighter urges.

May I humbly suggest that my martial companions do non-lethal damage?

Sophia does so, drawing her two daggers as she tumbles to her feet.

What does she see inside the tent?
