Jack in choom.
Oct 11, 2022 5:29 am
As you call up the maintenance server the AR around you shifts to the first floor of the construct and you see the initial login barrier who's flashing black and yellow portal requires a password.
Oct 11, 2022 8:47 am
Numa begins a Backdoor approach to bypass the password.

Rolls

Interface: Backdoor - (1d10+4)

(3) + 4 = 7

Oct 11, 2022 3:09 pm
You feed the code into the server and red lights flash green as the barricade slide open for you.

OOC:

Floor 2 control node: maintenance robots
Floor 3 password
Floor 4 black ice: hellhound
Floor 5 control node: cameras
Oct 14, 2022 2:09 am
Numa makes a mental note of the maintenance robots and moves on to Floor 3.

Rolls

Interface: Backdoor - (1d10+4)

(7) + 4 = 11

Oct 14, 2022 2:21 am
Another virtual door slams shut before Numa on the third floor and another code injection clears the way.
Oct 14, 2022 3:41 pm
Numa moves on to the 4th floor prepared to face some Black Ice. He executes his Shield program.
Oct 15, 2022 4:59 am
OOC:
Just so you have all your options you can also use Slide to bypass ICE rather than fight it if you so choose
Oct 15, 2022 10:43 am
OOC:
I thought about Slide, but the book says "flee combat" and "Slide can't be used preemptively." I took these to mean it's an escape action rather than a sneak action. I think my violent character would rather attack anyway though lol.
Oct 15, 2022 3:54 pm
OOC:
Ok, right you are, combat it is! I'll roll initiative just to speed things along and I assume you meant you load your Armor program since it doesn't look like you own Shield... All the better though as Shield doesn't work on black ICE and Armor does ;)
Oct 15, 2022 3:56 pm
Numa loads his Armor program and drops into the fourth floor where the geometric AR form of the Hellhound awaits. The construct rezzes as Numa approaches and the Netrunner can feel the unshielded circuits of his deck begin to heat up....
OOC:
Numa is faster! Code up cowboy!

Rolls

Numa initiative - (1d10+4)

(9) + 4 = 13

Hellhound initiative - (1d10+6)

(1) + 6 = 7

Oct 16, 2022 8:26 am
OOC:
Oops yes I meant Armor. Let me know if I did this correctly. I think I get 2 Net actions, so do I just use the Zap action as my second action?
"Let's see what you got." Numa loads up his Sword program.

Rolls

Interface - (1d10+4)

Oct 16, 2022 3:50 pm
OOC:
You forgot to add your program attack rating (1) to your Interface+1d10 roll, otherwise perfect! You get a total of 3 NET actions per round so loading Sword was one, Sword attack was two now yes you could Zap as a third.
Numa injects a Sword program into the server and slashes the Hellhound viciously, carving off half of the construct's head!
OOC:
Roll your Zap

The Black ICE runs hostile code against Numa causing his board to scream as the cooling system tries desperately to slow the overheating...

Numa's Armor program kicks in and a wall of encryption slams into place before the Hellhound's malware can affect him!

Oct 18, 2022 4:09 am
OOC:
So what are my options with the cameras? Deactivate? Stop them from recording? Something else?
Oct 18, 2022 5:44 am
Well you have basic camera control like you said (turn off, wipe data, pan around) or you could plant a virus (since you're on the bottom floor of the server) that can take a much more free-form aspect. The book leaves it up to imagination and GM oversight but I feel like doctoring images is easily believable. Just need an interface+d10 roll to utilize the node.
Oct 18, 2022 7:12 am
Number reaches the camera node and begins manipulating the code.

Rolls

Interface - (1d10+4)

(3) + 4 = 7

Oct 19, 2022 4:10 am
The camera interface materializes in the corner of your view.
OOC:
All yours, state your actions and jack out choomba.
Oct 19, 2022 1:45 pm
Numa injects code that overlays pixel graphic images of famous video game characters over anyone recorded by the cameras. He smiles and jacks out. Once he's fully back in meatspace he lets his team know the cameras are taken care of.
Oct 19, 2022 7:32 pm

The cyberdeck has a three level architecture with Asp ICE on the second level and the files on the third.
Oct 30, 2022 10:36 am
OOC:
Now I'm guessing we wait until another meatspace turn comes around? Does moving between levels cost an action?
Oct 30, 2022 5:10 pm
OOC:
No let's not wait on anything considering how long matrix stuff takes. The bids I'm posting on the cyberdeck are meant to be a ticking clock on meatspace time.

Yes movement takes an action (pretty sure)
Oct 31, 2022 2:11 pm
OOC:
Do you want to rez any programs before you move into the next level?
Nov 1, 2022 12:39 am
OOC:
Yeah I'll rez Armor and Sword for 2 actions. Looking at page 198 it says moving and copying files are not actions. I dont know what to do with a third action so i can just lose it.

Numa injects the sword code into the server once more and this time it cuts through the ICE like a hot knife! The Asp de-rezzes and Numa moves into the final node of the server where the file architecture waits, fresh for the plunder.
Nov 6, 2022 3:19 am
Numa copies the file. Once it's done he jacks out.
Jan 21, 2023 9:58 am
Numa is back in the matrix. He loads up Pathfinder and Cloak to find the layout of this system and to hide his presence.

Guess I'm not surprised, Numa thinks to himself. He loads up his Worm program and attempts to find a backdoor.

With the code injected the simulated barrier falls away and access is granted to the second level which appears to be a control node wired to security features of the biotech lab including cameras, door locks, and something labeled "laser stabilization array."
Jan 24, 2023 5:29 am
Numa first unlocks any doors between them and the roof. Then he will just see what the laser stabilization ray is and where it's located in meatspace if possible. Finally he'll scrub through security cameras last, also on their floor and the ones leading to the roof.
OOC:
Rolling Eye-dee on the laser array just in case you need it.

Jan 25, 2023 7:30 am
Numa fires off a quick message to the others. I've got something here about a 'laser stabilization ray' for something called 'Project Gibson.' Should I turn this off?"
Numa will make a mental note to come back to this after he checks the doors and cameras.

haha, ominous no? I'm not sure if you're joking or asking but the exploding dice rule is for crits and crit fails. A roll of 10 rolls again and adds it to the total, a roll of 1 rolls again and subtracts it.

So your defense roll is VS DC 13

Feb 5, 2023 6:42 am

OOC:

Feb 7, 2023 2:24 am
OOC:
Absolutely, you don't have to defeat the ICE to take other actions, but he will keep beating on you while you do it. Installing the virus will take 4 NET actions.

There is also your exit to think about...
Feb 7, 2023 2:26 am
OOC:
Well the job is botched if I don't get the files lol. Copying files is free, so can I upload the virus and jack out with my two actions?
Feb 7, 2023 2:27 am
OOC:
Sorry I updated my last post after you posted this, installing the virus will take a total of four net actions so it'll take up the rest of this round and most of next round
Feb 7, 2023 5:49 am
OOC:
Alright, let's get started. I'll still save the files to my deck so in case of emergency, the others can still get the files lol. Do you want to use the previous Virus roll?
Feb 7, 2023 6:30 pm
OOC:
I'll let you re-roll if you want and take the better of the two, don't forget you can use luck to boost your rolls
Feb 8, 2023 7:28 am

Turn Three

There's another Black ICE that needs to be bypassed.

With super speed, Spacer tries to slide past the Killer. Failure.

Recognizing that she is about to get torched by this thing, she zaps it twice.
OOC:
7 damage to Hellhound REZ, leaving it at 13/20

Hellhound Turn

The Hellhound unleashes its Flames.exe upon Spacer, but she is just too fast for this thing. Her form flickers from existence only to reappear nearby, as though a glitch had occured.
