Character creation happens here

Determine Characteristics
Roll 3D6 multiplied by 5 for the characteristics STR, CON, DEX, APP, and POW.
Roll 2D6+6 multiplied by 5 for SIZ, INT, and EDU.

(The multiply by 5 you need to manually as the dice roller doesn't support multiplication)

Also decide an age for your character as that will impact stats (older gives you a more educated character but weaker physically)

There is a dedicated 7e character sheet or if yo prefer custom sheets, you can grab from the repository.

No problem. The dice are integrated into a post, so it's more convenient and visible to the GM.

How old is your character?
Oct 13, 2022 12:44 pm
He is probably in his late 30's
Oct 13, 2022 12:50 pm
Ok so no loss of physical characteristics but a chance to improve education. Roll 1d100 vs your EDU. If you fail and get over, you may increase the score by 1d10

Here goes nothing.

I think I will go with antique dealer. Given his stats, he really needs to go into something more intellectual than physical.
Oct 13, 2022 8:36 pm
Antique Dealer
Antique dealers usually own their own shop, retail items out of their homes, or go on extended buying trips, making a
profit on reselling to urban stores.

Occupation Skill Points: EDU × 4
Credit Rating: 30–50
Suggested Contacts: Local historians, other antique dealers, possibly criminal fences.
Skills: Accounting, Appraise, Drive Auto, two interpersonal skills (Charm, Fast Talk, Intimidate, or Persuade), History, Library Use, Navigate
Oct 13, 2022 8:39 pm
Credit rating is one of those skills you need to spend points in, but you can choose between the range depending on how successful he is.

In addition you have INT x2 to spend on personal interest skills, so anything you like except Cthulhu Mythos
Oct 14, 2022 6:24 am
Well, I am going to have to really put points into those interpersonal skills to make them viable.

I think for the skills I would arrange them something like this:
Occupation skills
Appraisal- 50pt (55%)
Credit rating- 35pt
Library use- 35pt (55%)
Charm- 35pt (50%)
Fast talk- 40pt (45%)
Drive auto- 30pt (50%)
History- 45pt (50%)

Personal skills:
Firearms (handgun)- 40pt (60%)
Language (undecided)- 50pt (51%)
Art/craft (photography)- 50pt (55%)
Listen- 20pt (40%)

I think that adds up correctly. I am unsure what additional language to take. I am thinking maybe Latin, or another local language. Would you recommend I try and focus on a couple of skills and adjust my point distribution?
Oct 14, 2022 6:46 am
That’s the struggle , be a Jack of all trades or a specialist, both options are viable so I won’t recommend one way or another.

As for language, the most commonly used in CoC are Latin and Ancient Greek. Tomes are often written in them but the full reading of one applies more to long campaigns (that’s not to say they won’t get use in ancient places CoC often takes you to.)
Oct 14, 2022 9:43 am
I think I will take Latin as my second language and stay a jack of several trades.

Your max Sanity is 99, current sanity is equal to your POW
Magic Points are 1/5 of your POW
Roll 3d6 x5 for Luck

Now roll for some background elements to help you flesh the character out:

Ideology 1d10
Significant People 1d10
Why significant? 1d10
Meaningful location 1d10
Treasured possession 1d10
Trait 1d10
Oct 14, 2022 10:24 am
Hope I roll an interesting character.

What about hit points?
Oct 14, 2022 11:17 am
Damage bonus 0
Build 0
Move 8
Hit Points 7

As you have some low stats (3+) you get to roll an additional d6 and divide it among your stats (before the x5)
Oct 14, 2022 11:22 am
Idealogy "Money is power, and I’m going to get all I can" (e.g. greedy, enterprising, ruthless).
Significant Person: Person who taught you your highest occupational skill. Identify the skill and consider who taught you (e.g. a schoolteacher, the person you apprenticed with, your father)
Why? They give your life meaning. How? (e.g. you aspire to be like them, you seek to be with them, you seek to make them happy)
Location: The grave of a significant person. Who? (e.g. a parent, a child, a lover).
Treasured possession: Something you found but you don’t know what it is – you seek answers (e.g. a letter you found in a cupboard written in an unknown language, a curious pipe of unknown origin found among your late father’s effects, a curious silver ball you dug up in your garden).
Trait - Ladies’ man/seductress (e.g. suave, charming voice, enchanting eyes).

I will have to give my backstory some thought. And here is my roll
