These dwarves have hair of iridescent colors: vibrant pinks, royal purples, whispy blues; and their skin and hair share those colors of crystals throughout.
They are desperate because not just one, but three newly-carved children have been abducted. Based on the evidence at the scenes of the abduction, it stands to reason that the crystal-infants were stolen and flown southward (by Leatherwing Saurian scavengers, no doubt), towards the Icehook Peaks. There is an old dwarven keep many, many miles south of your location, that has fallen into disuse and a bit of disrepair. Plant growth and trees overrun this keep.
• Why have you left your clan to help this clan? Are your clans allies? Do you feel personal loyalty or obligation?
• How did you encounter the messengers in the wilderness? Why did you decide taking on this danger was worth it?
Now is also the time to work with the players to decide which PCs know each other, if any. Some existing connections between characters strengthen a party’s bonds, especially early in the game.
TONS AND TONS OF SALT
Cha-Vin-Sky, the Wyldling's chieftain, has promised the babies' weight in salt to any adventurers brave and skilled and lucky enough to bring the babies back. That much wealth would cement your place in the world.
THE PROMISE OF ANCIENT DWARVEN LOOT
The dwarves who built the Stonemark Keep mysteriously left this place quickly, leaving their belongings behind. They were master craftsmen and artisans. Imagine the troves of items that one may find there.
LEATHERWING SAURIAN SCAVENGERS
Leatherwing saurian scavengers may have stolen the baby, but to what end? Curiosity may cause you to want to investigate further? Do you know of any leatherwings who may be tied up in dangerous business, and you want to save them?
FUNGI AND OTHER DELECTABLES
Keeps like this, overrun with plant life, are typically rife with natural foodstuffs. One may find foodstores growing here (mushrooms and the like), within the keep, which can be bartered with, or consumed if you feel so inclined.
