The Darkness Beneath the Hill

Again Max cries with the loudest voice he can Joshua do you here us ?. He looks puzzled the foo prints and try to follow them, without success.

Pablo takes a picture of the opening of the brick wall in the basement. He then follows Gregory down the hallway. Along the way he takes out a piece of chalk and marks a large X on the wall. "Best to have some means to get our bearings, just in case."

Leland, still trailing after the others, pulls a notebook and pencil from his shoulder bag. He pauses and uses his chin to clamp his flashlight under his neck and makes a quick sketch of the tunnel, complete with notes on the rough dimensions and general compass direction.

[Ooc: Didn't think of it earlier, bringing a compass. Is it reasonable to assume he has one or can I make a LUCK roll to see if I brought one?]

From here on out we need to be careful.
We don't know how well these tunnels will hold up. Also, if you happen to see anything that looks old, let me take a look at it so I can identify and catalog it. If we can find anything related to the killings around here, we might be able to sell it for a bit of profit. I happen to know some people who are interested that sort of thing.

He will then try to listen for a response from Joshua.

"Very well, men," says Gregory, "I am starting to hope that Joshua has not gotten himself into trouble. If not, this is a bad jest of his."

The parapsychologist peers around this new opening in the tunnel, looking for any sign, anything out of place.

Max is trying to find any sign that could indicate Joshua's passing. and regularly he shouts.

Percival keeps an eye on the canary, though his primary focus -- at least for now -- is their surroundings and attempting to find out just where Mr. Winscott got off to.

Edit: "Oh aren't you just a precious little bird!"

Leland continues following along behind the others. He stops occasionally to add to his map sketch.

[Ooc: How does it smell down here? Is the air circulating? Can any air movement be felt?]

Max remembers the story read in the library how so many were dead in here. He looks around to see any other vestiges.

"Oh my," Leland says softly, coming up beside Percival. He looks on with interest as the good doctor examines the remains. Leland pays particular interest to any clothing or items that the remains may have about it, as the book dealer has a rather solid background in history. Maybe there is something to discern from such items.

Percival clucks his tongue after a bit. "Looks like six people died here, I'm estimating roughly a century and a half ago," he tells the others. "Manacles on some seem to lend credence to the stories of slavery... possibly violent deaths though. Torn clothing with blood tells a tale."

Standing, he resheathes his KA-BAR and looks around the area. "While obvious, it bears mention... none of them were Mr. Winscott." Dr. Cross picks up the bird cage with his off hand, pausing and checking on the canary. "So then, which way should we go?
