Taking a deep breath to steady himself and settle his nerves, Leland sets about on his climb down the chasm.

Poor Leland.

OOC:
You can try a pushed roll to avoid a fall, or drop 20 luck points, or just take the fall and 2d6 damage.

OOC:
If there is a fall, he can try to break it, can't he ?

Ooc: What's a pushed roll?
Nov 23, 2022 2:37 pm
[ +- ] Pushing skill checks
Nov 24, 2022 1:29 am
Ooc: Ok, I'll try a push roll. What the hell. The text says I have to describe how I do it differently. Not sure how to do it differently. It's pretty cut and dry. Do we have enough rope to tie Leland off to something? Or for the guys to anchor him as Leland climbs down? If not, I guess Leland just climbs down slower and more deliberately. Here goes...

Ooc: Leland's having an extremely bad day!

Rolls

Climb (20%) - (1d100)

(46) = 46

As he’s first to climb, Leland sets about putting the pitons and looping the rope, as Percival described. He gets part way down and loses his grip, falling the rest of the way.
OOC:
It’s a really bad fall. As that’s more that 50% of your health, you have a major wound - a broken leg. Roll Con to stay conscious.

Rolls

Damage -Leland - (2d6)

(36) = 9

Nov 24, 2022 3:11 am
Ooc: Leland can't catch a break... Pun intended!

(29) = 29

Harmon backs away as he sees Leland fall.
Oh no! This isn't good, not at all. Can anyone climb down and help Leland? Does anyone have a first aid kit?
Nov 24, 2022 7:17 am
I'll try, give me the rope. And wish me luck.

Max ties a rope to a stalagmite and get down near Leland.

He calls I am no medic, if someone could climb down to elp Lelad.
OOC:
Thank you for thewish, it was granted :o)

Rolls

Climb (20%) - (1d100)

(17) = 17

Luck - (1d10)

(5) = 5

OOC:
Just to clarify that extra d10 is a bonus die, not related to luck, in case you were removing from your pool
Nov 24, 2022 11:57 am
OOC:
I understood it was a bonus
Nov 24, 2022 12:02 pm
"I can attend to Leland once I am able to make my way down," Percival assures them. "Just fasten the pitons securely, Max. We don't need anyone else to take a tumble."

In his head, Dr. Cross is already running down the procedural list for treating a broken bone. This day just keeps getting worse.
Nov 24, 2022 1:06 pm
OOC:
Max is able to get down and secure sufficient pitons for climbers. If anyone is especially worried about falling, as long as one of you is at the top, you could tie a rope and lower someone down. Of course, they'd still need to climb back up if you intend to come back this way.
Nov 24, 2022 2:10 pm
It is done, the line is secure.
Nov 24, 2022 6:41 pm
Percival will tie the rope around himself, asking the others to make sure he doesn't drop. For the climb, he will put the birdcage in his rucksack, and when he is secure he makes his way down to attend to Leland.
Nov 24, 2022 6:52 pm
Percival makes it safely to the bottom and he sets about helping Leland
OOC:
First Aid can be delivered immediately. Max can assist to give Percival a bonus die. Success will healf 1hp

After that, you can try a Medicine roll, which will take longer (1+ hour) to heal a further 1d3. The major wound (in this case the broken leg) will take time to recover from.
Nov 24, 2022 7:01 pm
OOC:
Is there anything that can be used as a split, or possibly a crutch? I'd like to try and reduce any movement penalty (obviously I can't negate it, a broken leg is a broken leg).

"Max, do me a favor and keep watch, won't you? Now would be a terrible time to have another one of those... things... try to make a scene," Dr. Cross says to the other man.

Percival sets about rendering first aid, starting with trying to set the break.
