On traits use in game. My initial idea was to allow characters to create their own with me. However many prefer using existing content which is simpler and less work as the problems have been worked out. I will work on expanding the Traits list, as well as adding Prestige traits, and add short descriptions for each. I hope this helps. But I enjoy creating content so if you have an idea and don't see it covered in existing traits just tell me what you are thinking and we can work on it.

I might want the Tiny Zine 3 for some of those traits. I like the sound of weapon focus and savant.
Weapon Focus, Weapon Savant, and the prestige Weapon Master have some good stuff, but should probably be tightened up before using. But that's something you can work with the GM on. Weapon Savant is cool, but Weapon Focus can be painful to get through first.

But I wanted Tiny Pony: Teleport... :(
You can always ask!

But to get it, you character might have to be a cutesy little equine ...

Honestly, I would like to see what you can come up with between those three Weapon traits (focus, savant, master). I feel like they have the foundation of something good, but just don't look like they work well. (But, that could just be me.)

OK, to save those not invested in system mechanics and how it works in this game I created a separate forum for all TinyD6 discussions. Results of discussions will be posted here or in the Q&A thread. If you are interested in these discussions let me know and I will add you to the forum. All others are excluded, just so you do not get the new post notificaitons.

@WhiteDwarf I love Ander. I love that he thinks he is so noble and knightly but all he uses is a sling. It is amazing.

That is all

Announcement : Character progression
I made some minor adjustments on how characters advance in this game. It should not have a big impact on existing characters.
Status Benefits Rank
Begin play Heritage + 2 Traits + 1 weapon group Rookie
Finish introduction story +1 trait or weapon Mastery Novice
Finish one story arc + trait or mastery not selected as Novice Veteran

You only need to track XP as a veteran.

This ensures that you progress from Rookie to Novice to Veteran quickly and then after that it is up to you to gain experience to increase your characters abilities.

Sounds good, thanks for the update!

Sweet!

OK. Everyone check your character sheets. There are several that with the revised progression now have traits or weapon mastery that need to be designated. If you have been using the weapon you can begin using mastery now. Traits can't be used until you have down time back at base or something.

If you have individual questions put them in your player/character thread.
If you have general questions you can post them in the Q&A thread

Everyone stays with
1 heritage trait
2 additional traits
1 weapon proficiency
Those who finished their into as a Rookie gain either 1 trait or weapon mastery
Those who finish their challenges as a novice gain whichever of mastery or trait they did not previously select
Thus all veterans have
1 heritage trait
3 additional traits
1 weapon proficiency, 1 weapon mastery

Weapon mastery must be with a specific weapon the character is proficient with

Do you have to have weapon mastery?
Jan 21, 2024 1:40 am
Sweet. So, do veterans continue to progress by buying more traits/HP/etc?
Jan 21, 2024 2:44 am
Using Skeeve as an example, the answer to both questions is yes.

Edit: Assuming you mean "spending earned XP" when you said "buying".

The short answer is yes.
The reason : to stay close to the TinyDungeon rules.
Part of this, in my opinion, is to help balance magic and weapons within the game. Magic can do a variety of useful things but always tests 1d6 or 2d6 but with a weapon you can do 3d6.
There may be times where I allow magic advantage on rolls but this would be case by case, and I have yet to see such a case. I would likely require casters to have Prestige magical traits and then have it be rare justifiable situation.
