The Soldier and The Priest

Jul 14, 2016 7:42 am
The heavy mist starts to clear, as your boat pulls into the dark harbour. The vessel drew itself, powered by some unknown force, but it brought you to your destination nonetheless.

Ramold and Yaro, the decrepit harbour stands before you, The Undead chapel stands at the top of the cliff, with a winding path leading up to it up through the graveyard.
Jul 14, 2016 8:40 am
"Is this it? Am I free again? Is this our destination?" Yaro thinks to himself. "How long we were sailing? And from where?"
When boat approached docks, Soldier moved to the hard soil.
"Why did you bring me here, Wise One? It this our final destination?" - asks Yaro, peering into grim picture around him. "What should we do?"
OOC:
What do I remember? Do I have my items? Is there danger? What is our quest?

I smiled when I saw this chapel - not just regular one, but truly sacred place. Not the final destination, of course. But still important point on my way. I bowed my head before chapel, respectively, and went down to the ground. Then heard Yaro's question. He is not very smart, but loyal. Gods will notice him I sure.
'Not final. But important point too. Should explore this place. Listen to omens. Maybe, learn more about our blessing. Find a moment for prayer. Ask for shards of your memory. Maybe gods will answer you', said I.
Then we came into the chapel.
OOC:
Is this building's architecture, pictures, statues, etc. (if there is any of that) familiar to me? Do I know something more about purpose of this place? And, of course, do I see any possibly dangerous things?
(there should be 1d20 + 2, but smth wrong was happen)

Religion - (1d20)

(10) = 10

There is no movement on the docks other then the rolling fog. The church is of a gothic style.
OOC:
Yaro-you can remember what ever you think your character does, and you have all your starting equipment.
Romuald make me a religion check.
Jul 14, 2016 9:32 am
After subconsciously checking weapons, Yaro joined priest in road to the chapel, trying to see sings and omens.
OOC:
If I don't see anything significant, I lead the way directly to the chapel. Do we reach it safely?
Jul 14, 2016 10:07 am
Romualdo - You can't remember to whom this church was built for, but you do recall that this church at one point was used to trap the undead below it.

As you reach the end of the dock you see a most wonderful sight, a bonfire at which to fill your Estus flasks.
OOC:
when you roll, don't forget to add bonuses. Ie on your last check you had a +2 to religion, so you'll need to roll 1d20+2. Don't worry I took the bonus into account this time.

I recognised the purpose of this place, then thought that I should warn Yaro about it. I was not thinking about that chapel as a real danger, but once my follower was undead, so the chapel would be able to treat him as a trap target. So I said to him: 'Be careful. Once there was a trap. For those who was undead like you. Our gods will guard our way, but we should be responsible for our steps. And look! They blessed us with bonfire. Should rest after exploring the chapel'.
OOC:
I agree with Mihey about going to the chapel.

Bonfire. Visions of men sharing light, safe from danger. I know what to do. I have done it before.... Yaro comes closer to bonfire, sits down on one knee and raises his hand to ashes.
OOC:
I try to lit bonfire, in order to refill our flasks.

When I saw that Yaro, despite my words, came to the bonfire, I thought about to stop him. But then I just nodded and came closer to bonfire. There was a reason. What if we will met some danger in the chapel? Estus, precious gift of gods, will help in this case. So when Yaro started to use power of bonfire, I kneeled in front of bonfire and begun to pray, thanking gods of underworld for their grace.

The bonfire lights, for a fleeting moment farm the fills your cold hearts, restoring your vigour and your strength. You feel rested, as though you had stayed for ten or so minuets in this moment, though it lasted only a moment. Filled with determination you look once more to the church.
Jul 14, 2016 12:48 pm
Fire from nothing. Bright, but cold. It brings to life long lost memories. Friends, comrades... family? Now unknown faces in the dark. I feel alive!. But moment passes. And all fades away. Only sparks of light remain in our Estus flasks as proof of this miracle.

I am ready to continue. I thank gods for their gifts.
OOC:
And if everything fine, I lead our way to church.

Ahead by your path there are two hollows, one adults a tree in its madness and the other is curled up upon the ground.
Jul 14, 2016 1:34 pm
Yaro prepares his rapier and shield, but he is not rushing into battle.

"Tell me Romuald, was I like this? When you found me?" - he said with sadness in his voice, - "I would like to not disturb them and leave this poor creatures at their peaсe. It is dishonorable to kill unarmed and weak."

Soldier looks at hollows, hard, trying to predict if they will attack him. Also looking for way around them.
Jul 14, 2016 2:13 pm
Fire of the gods which keeps us between death and life. It made me feel alive - not as much, as long time ago, but quite enough. I was ready for journey, exploring and fight - ready for keep my oaths.
When I saw ghouls, that undeads, I took my rapier. If they will fight, I will answer them with the same. If they will not give us a sight - well, we will just go further. I said to Yaro with a little smile on my face: 'Yes, indeed. But gods found in you enough faith to let you live. And they? Too late. Just go ahead. Just let them be as they are'. Then I begin to think about how to walk by that creatures.
Jul 15, 2016 12:57 am
You could head of the path, deeper into the graveyard and attempt to circle around the hollows. Otherwise you could walk past them and hope they don't attack, or attack them preemptively.
Jul 15, 2016 4:17 am
"Known enemy is better than unknown. If they attack us, they will regret it - I will end their misery." Soldier thinks.
"Let's go. Try to not provoke them. Stay by my side." - said Yaro and started moving towards hollows.
OOC:
My plan is to hope that they will not attack.
Can I use Second wind ability to heal myself? It uses stamina, not hit dice.

OOC:
Yes you can use your second wind, as it is not keyed of hit die in this edition. I'm going to wait for con1vn to post before continuing though...
Jul 16, 2016 9:11 am
'Gods will defend us. I sure that corpses will not harm us', said I to Yaro and followed him towards undeads. I really thought that this ghouls will not attack, because I was believing in shield of my faith. There is no power to oppose will of the gods. Will of life and death.
Jul 17, 2016 3:23 am
You pass the hollows and continue along the path, but the sound of shuffling causes you to look back. Indeed you will not get past so easily, though you have time to react.

The sad creatures that stand before you are clad only in ruined cloth and bear no arms, though it is clear they intend to bludgeon you.

Soldier steps forward with shield ready. He goes for lunge attack, striking closest creature.
