Cornelious - The Mage

Jul 15, 2016 4:59 am
You awaken trapped on a blasted cell. This time something is different though, a shadow passes the grate above you, looking up a figure stands ready to cast a corpse into the pit where you sit.

*Slam*

The corpse hits the ground. You can see on it a key. Freedom?

You look up again, the armoured figure is gone, but the hope remains.
Jul 15, 2016 5:10 pm
Cornelious looks at the corpse, taking in the figure before him in. Trying to ascertain the manner of death, he flips the body over. Taking the key and anything else he can find. Slowly getting to his feet cornelious stands.
My head. Oh it hurts. Maybe if I can get out of here I can find a drink. Every time I wake up here it feels worse. How did it happen this time? I guess it doesn't really matter.

Taking a look around he sees what he can from within his cell.

Your head is still ringing, making it difficult to take in your surroundings as you stumble for the door.
Jul 16, 2016 2:04 pm
Taking the key in his hand Cornelious stumbles towards the door, barely catching himself before falling. He attempts to unlock the door and leave. Not caring where it leads to, hopefully someplace he can get a drink, but at the very least away from here.

"Oh how I hate this place, I'll have to be more careful in the future. We don't want to end up like some of those others do we? No! No we don't. People reduced to shells with no purpose. But we have purpose, the woman. Yes. As long as we have her we'll be safe. No one can get the best of Cornelious the Cunning. Now how do I get out of here again?

Cornelious slowly worked his way out whilst muttering to himself. Recently he's found the conversation much more enlightening than when speaking with others.

There is a long hallway, filled with several hollows, but you seem to remember that these are too far gone, and will not attack you unless provoked. At the end of it, a sturdy door swings slightly ajar.
Jul 17, 2016 4:01 am
I slowly make my way past them to the end of the hallway, peeking my head around the door before walking through it.

The room is dark, and you cannot see much in it, but the faintest memories stir in your mind, there is danger here.
Jul 19, 2016 4:48 am
Cornelious stops in his tracks as the thought of danger pierces through his cloudy mind. Cornelious digs around in his pack seeing what he has with him. He manages to pull out a torch, but can't seem to find anything to light it with.

Confound it, why did I bring a torch with no flint. Wait. Why did I bring a torch at all?

With the haziness starting to dissipate, Cornelious lifted his left hand out with his palm turned towards the sky. His bracelet, at first hardly even noticeable, was now spinning around his wrist at a tremendous speed. With his eyes closed, Cornelious muttered a few words. Arcane energy flowed from his outstretched hand into previously unlit torch he was holding. However, the torch was not lit with fire, but with some arcane magic. Once again, more cautiously now, Cornelious made his way out of the room.
OOC:
So I cast light in the torch. I'm having his bracelet be his arcane focus. And I'm not sure they'd any point, but I'm going to try a perception check again.

The light illuminates the walls of the room, revealing 8 hollows despairing against the walls. Disturbed by the sudden illumination, they get up and begin staggering towards you.
Jul 20, 2016 2:31 pm
As the hollows stagger towards him, Cornelious feels a twinge of pity for them. Not really wanting to fight them unless he has no other choice, Cornelious throws a torch about 30 ft away from him. Then he casts a minor illusion of a dog by it, hoping to draw them towards the light as he attempts to sneak his way around the hallows and out of the room.

Your quick thinking provides the distraction you need to slip out the far door. Through which is a long corridor with a chest at the end.
Jul 21, 2016 4:38 pm
Cornelious cautiously approaches the chest, the allure of the unknown inside it calling to him. He puts his hands on the chest, just about to open it, and then has a thought.

What if it's trapped? I should probably check it. But that takes so long. There could be great treasure in there, I can't wait.

With that, Cornelious attempts to throw back the lid of the chest and if successful, he peers inside.
Jul 23, 2016 12:36 pm
Your instinct serves you well, for inside the chest is the most sacred of all objects; an Estus flask.
OOC:
You may now add an estus flask to your inventory, if you already had one there, pretend you didn't before now...
Even in your moment of euphoria though dread fills your heart as a heavy crushing sound booms behind you.
OOC:
Dexterity save please
Jul 23, 2016 1:05 pm
Cornelious whips around to see what the noise was.

OOC:
I think I just get hit
Jul 23, 2016 1:35 pm
You turn back just in time to see a large boulder roll down the corridor and smash in to you. Crushing you into near oblivion, just as the light fades from your eyes you see the boulder crishing the chest and knocking through the wall.

YOU DIED

You reawaken at in your cell, the door is still unlocked and you have your estus flask in hand.
Jul 23, 2016 2:11 pm
Cornelious awakens in the cell again. This time a little more aware of what's going on since it's only been minutes since last he was here.

Hmm what an interesting flask, I wonder what it does.

After attempting to figure out what the flask does Cornelious makes his way back through the hallway, past the hollows and into the room where the chest used to be. He peers through the wall where the boulder went through to see if he could exit this place through there.

The Undead treasure these dull green flasks. Fill with Estus at bonfire to restore HP. The Estus Flasks are linked to the Fire Keepers. The Dark Tales also make reference: An emerald flask, from the Keeper's soul. She lives to protect the flame, and dies to protect it further.

The hole in the wall leads to another corridor, it is a narrow corridor caved in to the left. To the right there is a knight in tarnished armour, beyond him the corridor arches to the left.

The knight mutters to himself, perhaps he is not entirely gone.
Jul 23, 2016 3:05 pm
Cornelious approaches the knight, and calls out to him while still being 30feet away.

"Hello Sir Knight. My name is Cornelious, and well I was just hoping that your mind isn't completely rotted away like most around here. I can hear you muttering, but perhaps you can speak up and hold a real conversation. I do hope you're sane, I'm really not feeling up to having to fight with you. "
