Leland runs back through the tunnels to get away from the horrific surgeon.

As Leland runs, a figure comes out of the darkness ahead and launches itself at him! Leland, though surprised, is able to deftly step to one side, seeing the thing, a pale and hairy creature, not unlike an ape. It gathers itself for another attack.

Leland cries out in terror at seeing the ape like creature coming at him out of the darkness. He veers around the thing and continues his mad dash down the tunnel. As he runs, Leland pulls the little derringer pistol out of his jacket pocket. He stops momentarily, spins around, and fires off a shot.

The shot misses the creature and running some forty feet through the winding tunnel, he comes to a dead end, the tunnel has seemingly caved in, blocking the way out completely.

Upon reaching the dead end, Leland turns and looks back down the tunnel. He backs up, putting his back against the tunnel wall. He opens his shoulder bag and reaches inside pulling out his .45. He points it in the direction of the approaching monster. Once in range, Leland will fire off a shot.

A shot rings out from the way you came and the thing is hit. It stumbles for a moment, bleeding but continues toward you. Seeing its face, you see its features are distinctly human.
