Fenek recalls his thought upon reading the glyph notice, filling in the blanks as is usually needed with the limited vocabulary of the common glyph language. After talking to the local agent he learned a caravan would set out in a couple of days time and signed on as an outrider, scouting and defending the caravan. This got his lodgings paid for till they set out and then it was a life of adventure. So far that has amounted to long days in the saddle in the hot sun. They already crossed one border, the first Fenek has ever done. Thinking of the nausea complicated by his war-horses more violent reaction reaffirms that he will need to handle crossings with more care if he has to be mounted. Looking around the rough and rocky grasslands he check the wagon trains position and sees no threats to either it or him. Nudging his horse he rides on.

Fenek didn't expect his first few quests to be filled with glory and adventure, but he had hoped for a little more excitement than this. They had spent several long days just trudging along, with nothing to interrupt the monotony of the dry, barren landscape. His patience starting to wear thin, Fenek rode back towards the front of the caravan and brought himself alongside its leader. "This forward base, how much longer do you think it will be until we reach it?" The young knight asked politely, carefully masking his growing impatience.

Len
The caravan master sighs Asking wont make it go any quicker. It'll be a day at least then we need to cross the river. There is to bee someone watching for us but the boatmen never pay as much attention to the land as they should. Any trouble up ahead?

The caravan consists of 4 heavy wagons each with a driver and guard. There are 4 other adventurers that flank with one a bit ahead and the other a bit behind the caravan in 2 pairs. Len has had Fenek range ahead with the occasional circuit around every couple of hours when they take a break. Looking at the sun Len gauges the time, this point it is close to the afternoon break. He turns and calls some instructions to the other wagons and begins looking at the terrain ahead. Turning Fenek he says Do a circuit then bring it in for lunch. We'll stop ahead.

"Of course, you're right." Fenek agreed with the caravan master, a little apologetically. "I didn't see anything out there other than stones and shrubs, but I'll do another round." He informed Len, before he once again rode out in front of the caravan and began to slowly circle it. Peering out across the grasslands, seeing the heat shimmers in the distance, the young knight wondered what would await him once they did finally arive at the lost city. But Fenek didn't stop to ponder the thought for long, eager to complete his ride around the caravan and get some rest from the sun beating down on him.

Fenic soon leaves the wagons behind and backtracks a distance before turning to circle the caravan searching for potential threats or problems.

Roll a standard awareness test

As he makes his round, Fenek carefully scans his surroundings for anything that might be out of the ordinary.

As you ride you see a concealed humanoid figure watching the wagons from some cover a ways ahead of you. The caravan is a good ways off but they might hear if you shout with all your might.

When he noticed the man Fenek halted his horse and considered what he should do. He could try to alert the caravan first, but it would give him away to the figure watching the wagons and he wasn't sure if they'd even be able to hear him. Another option would be to leave his horse to try and sneak up on the man, but that would leave Fenek without his biggest advantage if he was spotted. Staring out across the open plain, the knight rembered a trick he had seen some of the cattle farmers from his hometown use. Reaching back he grabbed his hempen rope and tied it into a simple lasso, then spurred his horse into a gallop and rapidly closed the distance to the figure ahead of him.

Approaching quietly at first then gathering speed Fenek notes the figure is rather hairy and had ears perked up. As the horse is heard it turns revealing the figure is a Gnoll. The beautiful snout grimaces in a snarl as it raises it's bow.
Roll a test to get a lasso on him before he can try a shot or let me know your intentions.

Fenek spurs his horse on just a little more, trying to close the gap and lasso the creature before it can release an arrow.

Now close Fenek can recoil his lariat and make another attempt, charge the Gnoll with his warhorse as his weapon, or draw and attack with his sword
