Scene 3: The Ceremony

As everyone is discussing what to do, Alexander finds his way to the kitchen and grabs anything inflammable he can find. He returns and, without saying a word, he sets the old tree on fire. The sound of the sudden fire spreading through the rotten wood finally catches everyone's attention.

Alexander stands there, looking at the great flames consuming the tree, his eyes dark as the night refusing to reflect any of the light from the flames.

"Attention!" Dusk pulls Nathaniel out of the way as one of the tree branches fall. They hear the crack of the mansion's windows as fire starts to spread into the manor. If not stopped soon, everything will burn down. All the family heirlooms, knowledge and valuable history will just be turned to ashes.

The girl feels a sting of regret as she sees the building begin to go up in flames, but she has decided to leave her family behind, so she stays strong and tries not to flinch. It's just some house, she tells herself. It has nothing to do with me.

The witches' words break the girl out of her stare at the mansion. She takes a moment to think about their words, then says, "I'm sure," even if she's not entirely sure what she's agreeing to. Her vision did show her that something horrible would happen, should she agree to join the witches.
She again takes off her glasses and wipes the dust from them to clear her vision. "I want to be one of you."

As Nathaniel quickly runs upstairs with the two buckets full of waters he manages to find, he easily puts out the fire which was slow to pick. Luckily, the tree branches didn't roll too far and stayed in the marble floors away from anything flammable. As he cries for help he notices a shape stumbling from the other side of the hall. "She's coming. We must make the offering. The Caretaker. He know the ritual." Nathaniel notices his cousin, Elias, talking non-sense to himself like a deranged doomsday prophet. He stops for a moment, his head tilting to the side. "Who is there? You say the dead boy is here?" Elias turns his blank stare towards Nathaniel. "Yes yes I see. But we need a living offer."

While Alexander is confronted with the demonic aberration, the girl is resolute about joining the strange women, despise not being entirely sure what that means. As she and Twilight prepare to leave this cursed place behind, the girl feels an eerie supernatural energy, the memory of her vision in the bedroom suddenly haunting her.

"The source! Its here!" Dawn shout as her entire appearance changed as if possessed by some strange spirit.

The girl stares at the strange duplicate of herself, burning away into a horrifying creature. "The source?" she asks. "What is that?"
