It's up to you guys if you are from Phlan or just passing through.
Oh! Quick question... if we take starting gear based on class and background... can we potentially sell any of it if there's something we don't want/need? If not, can we just leave that item behind? Or, if so, are we selling at 50%?

Question for @Sassafras. Is it okey that I have Pseudodragon as a familiar?
Tiny Dragon, Neutral Good
Pseudodragon (familiar variant) | https://www.dndbeyond.com/avatars/thumbnails/30834/747/1000/1000/638063895946207580.png
Armor Class | 13 (natural armor) |
Hit Points | 7 (2d4 + 2) |
Speed | 15 ft., fly 60 ft. |
STR | DEX | CON | INT | WIS | CHA | |
6 | 15 | 13 | 10 | 12 | 10 | |
Skills Perception +3, Stealth +4
Senses Blindsight 10 ft., Darkvision 60 ft., Passive Perception 13
Languages Understands Common and Draconic but can't speak them
Challenge 1/4 (50 XP)
Proficiency Bonus +2
Keen Senses. The pseudodragon has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight, hearing, or smell.
Magic Resistance. The pseudodragon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Limited Telepathy. The pseudodragon can magically communicate simple ideas, emotions, and images telepathically with any creature within 100 feet of it that can understand a language.
Familiar. The pseudodragon can serve another creature as a familiar, forming a magic, telepathic bond with that willing companion. While the two are bonded, the companion can sense what the pseudodragon senses as long as they are within 1 mile of each other. While the pseudodragon is within 10 feet of its companion, the companion shares the pseudodragonโs Magic Resistance trait. At any time and for any reason, the pseudodragon can end its service as a familiar, ending the telepathic bond.
Actions
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage.
Sting. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 11 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 hour. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the target falls unconscious for the same duration, or until it takes damage or another creature uses an action to shake it awake.
The elusive pseudodragon dwells in the quiet places of the world, making its home in the hollows of trees and small caves. With its red-brown scales, horns, and a maw filled with sharp teeth, a pseudodragon resembles a tiny red dragon but its disposition is playful.
Other
Quiet and Defensive. Pseudodragons have little interest in other creatures, and they avoid them whenever possible. If it is attacked, a pseudodragon fights back using the poisonous stinger at the tip of its tail, one jab of which can put a creature into a catatonic state that can last for hours.
Draconic Familiars. Mages often seek out pseudodragons, whose agreeable disposition, telepathic ability, and resistance to magic make them superior familiars. Pseudodragons are selective when it comes to choosing companions, but they can sometimes be won over with gifts of food or treasure. When a pseudodragon finds an agreeable companion, it bonds with that person as long as it is treated fairly. A pseudodragon puts up with no ill treatment, and it abandons a manipulative or abusive companion without warning.
Language of Emotion. Pseudodragons canโt speak, but they communicate using a limited form of telepathy that allows them to share basic ideas such as hunger, curiosity, or affection. When it bonds with a companion, a pseudodragon can communicate what it sees and hears even over long distances.
A pseudodragon often vocalizes animal noises. A rasping purr indicates pleasure, while a hiss means unpleasant surprise. A bird-like chirping represents desire, and a growl always means anger or discontent.
Background:
There is a prophecy, "The Guardian of the Balance": A prophecy foretells the arrival of an Eladrin who will play a pivotal role in maintaining the balance between the Forgotten realm and the Feywild. The details of this prophecy are a bit vague as it talks about preventing a great calamity or preventing the two planes from merging, which would have catastrophic consequences. Nevertheless Vess is sure that she is that Eladrin. The Pseudodragon might have something to do with Vess believing that she is The Guardian of the Balance
When she casts her mage armor, ice forms around her

We have a Rogue/Druid, a Sorcerer and a Artificer so far
- Only our Rogue/Druid prefer melee, more melee is welcome
- I've roller 14 as best score, so my Sorcerer is a poor party face rolling terrible skill checks and decision making skills appropriate for a goblin (and he is one). Not to mention lot of NPCs have default attitude to goblin ever worse that to Monstrosity or a Manufactured creature. Bottom line: if anyone want to make Cha based PC to be party face, I will welcome that
- Scout/sneak/perception roller roles are occupied I believe
- I don't believe we ever needed one, but we currently lack a PC with good Athletics to jump/climb/break doors/etc. Who knows, we may need one.
P.S. I've also occupied the roles of coward, dumb idea implementer and the mistrustful. LOL

Giant Foundling

p6
Skill Proficiencies: Intimidation, Survival
Languages: Giant and one other language of your choice
Equipment: A backpack, a set of traveler's clothes, a small stone or sprig that reminds you of home, and a pouch containing 10 gp
Origin Stories
How you came to live among colossal creatures is up to you to determine, but the Foundling Origin table suggests a variety of possibilities.
Foundling Origin
d6 Origin
1 You were found as a baby by a family of nomadic giants who raised you as one of their own.
2 A family of stone giants rescued you when you fell into a mountain chasm, and you have lived with them underground ever since.
3 You were lost or abandoned as a child in a jungle that teemed with ravenous dinosaurs. There, you found an equally lost frost giant; together, you survived.
4 Your farm was crushed and your family killed in a battle between warring groups of giants. Racked with guilt over the destruction, a sympathetic giant soldier promised to care for you.
5 After you had a series of strange dreams as a child, your superstitious parents sent you to study with a powerful but aloof storm giant oracle.
6 While playing hide-and-seek with your friends, you stumbled into the castle of a cloud giant, who immediately adopted you.
Building a Giant Foundling Character
Your life among giants has given you a unique perspective. Though you are unusually large for your kind, you're no larger than a giant child, so you might be very mindful of your size.
Feature: Strike of the Giants
You gain the
Prerequisites: Martial Proficiency or Giant Foundling
You have absorbed primeval magic that gives you an echo of the might of giants. When you take this feat, choose one of the benefits listed below. Once per turn, when you hit a target with a melee weapon attack or a ranged weapon attack using a thrown weapon, you can imbue the attack with an additional effect depending on the benefit you chose:
Cloud Strike. The target takes an extra 1d4 thunder damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw, or you become invisible to it until the start of your next turn or until immediately after you make an attack roll or cast a spell.
Fire Strike. The target takes an extra 1d10 fire damage.
Frost Strike. The target takes an extra 1d6 cold damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw, or its speed is reduced to 0 until the start of your next turn.
Hill Strike. The target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the weapon's type. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a Strength saving throw or have the prone condition.
Stone Strike. The target takes an extra 1d6 force damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet from you in a straight line.
Storm Strike. The target takes an extra 1d6 lightning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw, or it has disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of your next turn.
The saving throw DC for these effects equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Constitution modifier.
You can use this feat a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
The Giant Foundling Personality Traits table suggests a variety of traits you might adopt for your character.
d6 Personality Trait
1 What I lack in stature compared to giants, I make up for with sheer spite.
2 I insist on being taken seriously as a full-grown adult. Nobody talks down to me!
3 Crowded spaces make me uncomfortable. I'd much rather be in an open field than a bustling tavern.
4 I embrace my shorter stature. It helps me stay unnoticedโand underestimated.
5 Every avalanche begins as a single pebble.
6 The world always feels too big, and I'm afraid I'll never find my place in it.

Been debating the possibility of a two level dip into Wizard as well, but that won't be for a number of levels.
A tank which focus on firearms - interesting. I was originally thinking the group was backline heavy, but with a gun tank and melee rogue - that leaves the crazy goblin in the back.
From the interest thread it looked like we might get a fighter.
I was contemplating a bard, possibly valor - could join as a back line ranged. Would be my first bard character ever, so probably suck at it - but he'd look good doing it. I don't know, I've avoided it for 45 years - maybe this time.
Bards are great solo or in teams depending on the game. Some colleges are more useful than others depending on the setting and game. This one seems to be investigation heavy so things like lore, insight, investigation, can all be useful, but pick something fun for you.
I'm abandoning my consideration of the Bard :) My brain keeps trying to fix things about it I don't like, so at that point, play something else :)
I realize that my stats would make a great dwarven war domain cleric - so if you decide not to pursue cleric - I might go that route.
Also considering Eldritch Knight.
I thought I saw one of the characters was multi classed - are we allowed to multi class at the start? A Fighter 1/War Magic Wizard has sparked my interest as a possible character akin to an Eldritch Knight.
Yeah, Chitkree is multiclass rogue/druid. You need the stats for it but other than that is has been allowed
