Agna's attention turns from the pantomime to the bartender. "You are familiar with this one, then," she says, indicating the lizard. "What human are you talking about?"
Jan 21, 2023 3:54 pm
"So you want us to take it north. Up on a.... mountain! Taking it to someone like you?"

Thinking he may be on a roll Izuhn concentrates on Dragonbait, he doesn't respond to the bartender, Agna's got him covered.
OOC:
Rolling to see if Izuhn has ever heard anything about sauroids.

Dragonbait
Dragonbait smiles as Izuhn mentions the mountain in the north, but then shakes his head when questioned if it is for someone like him. Instead, he points to the human bartender.
OOC:
So you now know that he wants you to take it north, to a mountain, because it's too cold for him. Got some description of whom to give, so that's most of the riddle done :D
The bartender turns to Agna. "Only as familiar as havin im her' fer a tenday. Came with a human but when the other left, this one stayed." He stops to remember more about Dragonbait's companion. "The human was the quiet sort. Tall, lithe and always kept his hood and cloak. Them usual shady types ye see in Luskan. But... " He continues, almost whispering. "...that fella never took his gloves off. If ye ask me, never saw nobody keepin them gloves by a fire before."
Jan 22, 2023 3:06 pm
"Hmp. How d'you know they were human if their hood was always up, then?" Agna crosses her arms.
Jan 22, 2023 8:11 pm
So take it north, look for a tall character that's always wearing gloves and a hood. Draw me a map of which town to find 'em. Can you speak a name? If not, this sounds difficult and will cost an extra 2 gold. But, we'll do our best to get it delivered

Dragonbait
The bartender looks surprised by Agna's question, stuttering for a while. "Weh... well, it, it didn't cover all the face." Assuming they are not staying long, he looks around for other customer waiting to order something.

Dragonbait nods as Fizel summarizes what he is trying to communicate, whistling happily as the citric scent is replaced by that of tar, followed by wood smoke and then by a hint of roses. He gestures the mountain sign when asked for the map, and again points at the finger on his left hand to answer the name. He pushes the box across the table, and then lays 15 golden pieces on the table next to it.

The reptile smiles, grabs his brew and smells it, taking a moment to enjoy the warm steam. He stops before sipping, putting the mug down as a strong perfume of violets slowly floods the tavern. Dragonbait takes what looks like a holy symbol showing balanced scales upon a warhammer. His mood changes as he gravely looks at it. He puts on hand on his chest and another one on the symbol, and then looks back at each one of you.
Jan 23, 2023 10:46 am
As I quickly take the items I say, Thank you, will do. Now we have to hurry to our next pick-up. turn and walk out the bar. Dividing up the coins outside, I put the box in my pocket.
Jan 23, 2023 12:37 pm
"Thank you for your blessing" Izuhn says to Dragonbait. He then departs from the table and follows Fizel out. "Well done team. We're heading to the ruins next?"

Dragonbait looks confused, as none of you take part in the divine oath... but at least he thinks you know where to find his friend, so he patiently smiles and waves as you leave the brimstone smelling tavern. He knows communication is not easy in this world...

You leave the One-Eyed Jax and turn to cross the river, passing by the place where the three of you met.
OOC:
Since not all of you got thesame information, if you want to discuss what happened or other information during your walk, go ahead.
You finally cross the Luskar market and approach the entrance of the Ruins of Illusk. As you step closer, everyone around you suddenly stops, giving you the eerie feeling that time froze. Only the occasional whisper and stare in your direction let you know that time still flows normally. Unsure, you step into the labyrinthine ruins...
OOC:
I'm going to need a tracking check to find your client. These are very ancient ruins of a city that has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. You can make up what your character sees, world-building a bit this abandoned shadowy area as you try to find your way through them.

"Never met a Saurial before, this job's already been a treat." Izuhn smiles at the new experience that he received. "So... uh.. in review though, what exactly did we get from that last guy? I'm pretty sure that we're taking his box to a tall Luskan man somewhere near or on a mountain up north. Did you all pick up any more than that?

As the trio draws nearer to the ruins, Izuhn begins to try and decipher some signs of direction and as they venture in, he makes mental notes of landmarks and obvious features that will help to navigate them in and out....... It seems that everything is a little too interesting though and rather than keeping a route, Izuhn finds himself lost in thought in addition to being lost physically.
OOC:
Would this be an instance where someone could add something on to help with a +1 to make a success?

Honestly, I don't even care. We'll haul it up north and if I happen to run across someone that fits the look, I'll ask if he knows Dragonbait and if yes he wins the prize. I do have a guess I'll find them in Caer-Konig though

"What manner of courier service is this anyway, to not even know where to find their own clients?" Agna mutters to herself. She steadies her grip on her staff as the group walks down the empty road. "Might be we'll get to the harbour and find ourselves lacking a ship next." She raises her voice into a shout. "Oy! Anyone here?"

OOC:
Yeah, I can assume it's a group action and you have advantage/help. That makes your modifier +4 so a 9 succeeds. I'll have Agna helping since she is the one who shouted.

It looks like Fizel has been to the dale before :D
As you walk deeper into the narrow passages within the ruins, the light becomes dimmer; the remains of old buildings almost intentionally blocking the sun. Izuhn gets distracted with all the remains of the ancient stoneworks as he tries to find any evidence your next client is anywhere around here.As you discuss where Dragonbait's friend may be or question the way the mercenary company does its work, you start to get the claustrophobic feeling that you are suddenly surrounded by the shadows within the ruins. You grow uneasy as you notice movements from the corner of your eyes, shadows that you can't glimpse at, but never really manage to tell. Clacking sounds echo as the moldy smell of old rot becomes almost unbearable. You continue, mostly guided by Izuhn, turning around corners, going up- and downstairs, into old cellars and out of collapsed buildings. When you start to think you got lost, Agna notices something
testlum says:
"Oy! Anyone here?"
Agna shouts as she notices a humanoid shape sitting before a simple campfire in a small corner of these twisting ruins. The figure turns away from the fire and looks up at you grimly as you approach, its yellow eyes almost shinning with an inner fire. As the they stand up, you notice the horns projecting from their forehead, while the campfire reveals robes that were clearly once splendid, but are now tattered and grimy. In their hands its something tightly wrapped in heavy cloth. The figure doesn't greet you; instead, they utter something in a strange language; they raise their free hand, gesturing something which ends with them pointing in your direction.
Jan 25, 2023 11:33 am
Seeing the strange figure, Agna pauses. She holds her staff out at a horizontal angle in a motion for the dwarves to halt. "We mean no ill," the orc says at a distance, making no approach that might be considered a threat. "Do you know - or are you - Vanifer?" If the figure gives no sign of understanding, Agna will repeat the same query in the other languages she knows.
Jan 26, 2023 2:51 am
Izuhn starts at Agna's shout and turns to reprimand her for startling him before catching sight of the horned figure out of the corner of his eye. He halts behind Agna's staff and waits for the figure to respond to her.

Skeleton
The person doesn't reply immediately to Agna's question. In fact, they continue to utter whatever arcane incantation they started. Suddenly, you all see an arrow fly straight at the horned figure. The projectile is incarcerated as a bolt of fire shoots out from the pointed finger and you feel the unbearable heat coming from behind you. You turn to see a skeleton falling to the ground consumed by flames. "What do you want with Vanifer?" The person asks as you notice four other skeletons moving out from the corridors to surround you.
Jan 26, 2023 12:04 pm
"Cities," Agna growls deep in her throat before answering the shady figure. "I don't give a rat's ass about Vanifer. We're just here to collect a parcel from them." As the undead shamble from their hiding places, she holds her staff in a defensive posture. "What is all this?"
Jan 27, 2023 12:28 am
Izuhn turns to cover Agna's back, his hands aglow with purple magical energy. "Let's try and get rid of some company." Izuhn thrusts his hands towards the skeletons and begins twisting his hands, attempting to undo the magic holding the bones together.
OOC:
I may be reaching a little bit here but I thought it would be cool. Feel free to tell me if it works or how it does.
OOC:
Boy it definitely doesn't, but at least I learned something from it.

I like the use of dispel magic to kill the undead. didn't work, but you can get inspiration (experience) for that :D This is on top of the experience with necromantic magic from the double 2
Vanifer
The horned woman stops her incantation as Agna replies. "I like you already" she smiles as she waves to the campfire, rising the flames like a serpent to strike another skeleton that just turned the corner.
