Place for players in a 5e game

I have a 5e game going, a short one-shot, that needs one more player.

Homebrew setting
Core books only
Laid back DM
Level 1

Is the game ongoing or just about to start?

Edit: I read the post again and answered my own question lol. I suppose what I really mean is what stage will the player be introduced? Will they be taking over a character or making a new one?

I have a couple of openings in 5e game. Ideally 2, but up to four players maximum. Players had to bow out because of real-life commitments.

The premise of the game is that the PCs have become part of a volunteer militia to act as a part of an early warning system. They were charged with alerting the capital city once an enemy force was known to be crossing into the region for an assault. Once it was clear that the force was en route, PCs had just a few days to get back to the capital city to alert the powers that be so that they could seal things off to prepare for the impending siege.


Level 1, core rules only, DM if interested.

So far content has been relatively mild. Nothing beyond the material that would be suitable for young adolescents. It is very heavily oriented towards the theatre of the mind. If we can keep things ticking along at around a post a day we should keep the game going fairly smoothly. I'll take any level of experience with the game or RPGs. Everyone is welcome.
